Default Trike MOT Question

Forgive me if this has been covered before, couldn't find it anywhere.

Just heard that hazard and sidelights must work independently of the ignition, ie work with the ignition off.

If so, when from and I'm guessing/hoping this is not retrospective.

Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Erm ........... sorry dude, this is retrospective, all trikes irrespective of age needs to do this. I suggest a hidden cut out switch for them so no lil bastard turns em on when your away.

Hazards have to work with ignition on and off. Front position (side) lamps don't have to work with ignition off.

Hazard lamps apply to all vehicles (trikes & cars not bikes) first used after 1 April 1986, but........ first used dates - "Vehicles having a Q plate registration when presented for MOT are to be treated as follows: For emission puposes only, all these types are to be considered as vehicles first used before 1st August 1975. For all other testing puposes they are to be considered as being first used on 1st January 1971
