Default Reponse to "are motobikes dangerous?" thread

On a VW forum someone asked if bmotorbikes were dangerous, this is a response by a certain 'Dan Jerrous Motorcycle philosopher!'

Quote:
There is no dangerous anything (says Dan Jerrous - see what I did there?) only dangerous people, no object is inherently dangerous, even a gun cannot hurt you until a human is in control, unless you have taught your dog to use one and I'd love to see that.

Danger, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder, we all have different thresholds for what we perceive as a threat to ourselves, some people see motorcycle as dangerous because they are complete wussies, they hide in their cars and are completely jealous that their wife wont allow them to go out and buy a vehicle that will free their minds.
Take the blue pill and wake up to your safe little car and be insulated from the world around you, OR take the red pill and go out and buy a motorsickle, feel the world around you, that stuff thats blurred as you look down... thats the road that is, going past so fast you cant focus on it, feel the air hitting your face, feel alive!

As Bert Munro once said (paraphrased) "You can live more in 5 minutes on a motorcycle, than most people do in a lifetime!"

We Shall Fear Nothing
Demand The Impossible
Dream Your Destiny
Nothing is impossible.

Fear is the mind killer!

All you cars drivers, I bet at least once you have dreamed of looking like a big bad biker as you cruise along looking cool on a big noisy chopper, but you wont find many bikers dreaming of a nice cosy car!

(unless its raining)

Motorbikes are different from cars, you either get them or you dont, and if you dont then you have taken the blue pill.

Regards
Dan Jerrous Motorcycle Philosopher

Have a look on the back seat. Is it full of McD's cartons? No? You chose wisely.

What a thread that is... all those car drivers knowing so many dead and veg'd bike riders .... what a crock o ****e!!!

Cant believe no-one has pulled the pic apart, that is NOT a picture of a bike/car accident at all .... looks more like a piece of art work designed to

"make people think" ...

there was a similar accident reported in the reading evening post a while back, I've just found the article for comparison purposes. By the way where it happened is a slightly staggered x-roads on a long straight, cars crossing tend to take a while to get across and vehicles on the straight tend to be travelling a bit.
http://www.getreading.co.uk/news/4/4...in_bike_horror

The follow up stories mentioned how the bikes impact had spun the car clockwise 90 degrees so it was travelling some but there is no penetration or chassis bending in the way the other piccie has yet the bike is at least as smashed.

Yep ... I spun a car @ 70mph .. Nov 7th 1989 7.30pm .. I wont forget that in a hurry, again bike didn't "enter" the car .. smacked the front passenger door, you could tell I was still holding the bike when I hit it, it twisted the forks completley, smashed the front wheel into the frame and rad .. handlebars still dead straight !!!! nasty stuff ..... did it all in front of a copper n'all .. the bike was lying beside the car when they carried me out of the road. ( after i stood up, turned around, realised leg was smashed, fell over, put hands down only to find wrist was broken ...man o man that hurt like a biatch)

def a fake photo IMO ...

I've not yet, ever in my life walked passed a motorbike and had it start having a go at me, snapping at my heels or anything. They just tend to sit there doing nothing. Even if you squeeze past really tightly...so nah I don't believe for a minute motorbikes are dangerous!
