Default Wish me luck guys

Just got back from a job interview in Lewes.

Same line of work as I'm in now as an Artworker (problem solving, making up books, etc.)... much smaller scale, the occasional nutty deadline, but at a book publishers.

It went rather well. OK, I wasn't offered the job on the spot as they had two more people to interview, but it was veeeeeeeeeeeeery positive... It sounded like they think I am the ideal bloke for the job (the way the interviewer was talking).

Wage's a small step up (with a living allowance on top), holidays the same as I'm on now (25 days a year), in the centre of Lewes, so I can ride the bike in the decent weather and catch the train when it's skanky (or when I want to get fit). Won't need to take the car (won't be able to because of traffic). And most of all... NO SATURDAYS!!! (Like the one I'm doing tomorrow )

Loads of positive thoughts please guys!!!!

I'll find out next week for definite.

Hope you get it!

Cheers guys... do you ever get the feeling that you've been told more stuff than you would normally at a job interview...?

There was nothing negative - we even got round the whole thing of me not having experience in InDesign - one of the specific packages on the job ad - my Quark, Illustrator and Photoshop experience made up for it (my portfolio included the MAG membership leaflet I did last year, that combined the three skills)?

Fingers are seriously crossed!!!!

Hi Mitch. Best of luck this week, hope all proves good for you. Maybe they're ok with you not having knowlege of InDesign seein' as you know the other programs an' they're hopin' you'll pick it up anyhow.

An' at the same time I hope my mate is successful an' has good news this week. He had a very good audition for the vacant drum stool for Uriah Heep last Thursday.

Fingers crossed for both of you.

That's the impression I got... won't take me long to learn it as it's based around the three I mentioned earlier . Where I am currently is talking of moving over to InDesign from Quark (at the same time as getting rid of the macs, which in my opinion is a very bad move - while it may save costs at first, it'll cause loads of techie grief later on* - and they'll have to retrain about 30 people in prepress, either that or get rid of folk, as has started already )

Sounds good for your mate, I hope he gets it - didn't realise Uriah Heep are still going...

*only been using Macs for 20 years (since doing work experience at the Halifax Evening Courier) and PCs for about 13. Macs are much more intuitive for my line of work. There is a PC in the department but everyone avoids it like the plague - even us that can use them.

BEST OF LUCK TO YOU MITCH. Just a shame you`ll have to endure the traffic at Lewes. When I lived in Eastbourne I got offered a Job in Worthing and turned it down just because of the traffic issues.MEGA money at the time, but prefered to be alive/stress free.

I've been doing the trip from Seaford to Hollingbury (North of Brighton) for the past three years... so I'm used to Beddingham - however I've had three accidents in those three years, two of them at the Kingston Roundabout to the west of Lewes (one when a twat pulled out on me on a roundabout, glancing blow hit the bike and the other in the car when I got shunted from the rear by a daft bint who was more concerned that she hadn't drank her coffee than watching the road ahead!!). getting into Lewes, all you have to think about is Beddingham... (unless I go through Newhaven up the C7 through Kingston)

Lewes is a fucking stinking ****hole bastard bumflap of a place and the traffic is a fucking nightmare full of stupid fucking people who are more concerned with getting little tarquin to school in the proper manner and making sure that the other parents at school see that he has the latest toy/car/holiday or some other ****e. I live in Lewes and both me and the missus have to ride though it at peak times to get to work/school and its a complete ****hole, oh did I mention that I hate Lewes.

I like Lewes but then we don't have to live there. They have great shops and it's right on the South Downs with a river and lots of hills and interesting allies and such like. I guess it's only nice if you don't have to live there - bonfire night is fun too!!!
Come and live in Seaford mate - the outskirts are brilliant, no Tarquins, lots of bikers, peace and quiet. We wouldn't live anywhere else now

I live by the river (stone's throw away) and just round the corner from the high street and about the best thing about Lewes is the road leading out of it. Yeah Seaford's ok - good fishing but I have four children and live in a Housing Association place so it would be a bit of a pain in arse moving.
