Personally, I am out of ideas. I have heard mention of a bad head gasket, or carb-icing, but I am suffering very specific symptoms with my bike.

Any help would be very much appreaciated

Infuriated by my garage's persitance that the gasket was to blame, I had another look at the bike, namely the fuel system.

I looked at the fuel filter (once again), and decided to remove it (once again). However, I looked down the fuel hose, and noticed that there was a small piece of plastic (from an old fuel filter?) that was obstucting it.

I removed the offending article, and I have since done about 10 miles with absolutely no problems at all, plus I deliberately took a few of my usual 'high speed' routes, just to test it.

So, thank-you all very much for your help and suggestions.

Peter
