It'd go nice for a feature, but that's not getting shown or featured 'cos I didn't build it meself - I just happened to be in the right place at the right time to pick up someone else's cheque book folly. Not right to go taking credit & trophies for someone else's work.

Once I'd priced up the cost of making the Sportster how I wanted it, didn't cost me much more to buy the Dyna... and being in the position of 'able-to-buy-any-bike-I-want' for probably the only time in my life, I thought I'd give it a shot. If it don't work out, I can't see as how I'm going to lose much on it.

You mean he said no, but thanks for your somewhat presumptuous insinuation that i'd want one.

Just a technical concern that's popped into me head;
How's it got anodised spokes, they aluminium spokes are they?
I wouldn't trust them fuckers then.

No, pic would be for Rogues Gallery, not a feature... Nik ain't said a word to me despite me nagging him about getting in touch with the builder of Best Chop and Best in Show from Freak's Do.

Not sure yet, haveta investigate further... but they're definitely multi-coloured, never seen that before.

Yep, Swedish styled Virago, plus his lady's Savage chop.

You haven't nicked the feature off him have you, Blue?

Pagan... are you actually proud of your new toy?

...pics?!

I'm intrigued to see how the wheels fit in with the overall theme unless you have the wheels in the pics above front and back causing a purple effect when you blur past everyone on your rocket?

Yes, very, but no pics 'til now as I only got it today - good fun riding something that pokey back home 60 miles in the p1ss1ng rain it was too.

First impressions - needs work!

Lights need changing... and that whopping great fugly reg plate from the dealers would be in the garage bin by now if I had one to replace it. Rear guard needs cutting down and lowering, if I can manage it without butchering the paint job - which is purple to blue to silver flames over black, with carbon fibre matched air filter and battery box covers.... but I seem to remember it looked a lot better with a small plate, so will hold off the grinder for just now...

Riding position very comfortable and cruises nicely at a steady ton, which is surprising for a front wheel that small. Fork brace and tiny fly screen helps with that, I'm sure. HUGE bars on risers (2"?), nice and wide too - no need (or ability!) to push the bars forwards here.

Overall, the motor is superb - still awaiting the full shopping list but definitely 1550 hi-comp motor (you have to push down the decompressors to start it!), hi-lift cams, 45mm flatslide carb plus a V & H 2-1 pipe that very strongly resembles a Supertrapp. Managed to severely surprise a Ducati 1000 rider on the way home already as to how quick off the roundabout it was...

Ohlins at the back with extended swingarm and a 200 conversion in there - it will take a 230 if I want to stop going round corners quickly... Billet 6's all round on fully floating discs.

Further investigation reveals that the previous (and only) owner was Dealer Principal at another HD dealership and this was his Dealer Special project - started with a 1450 FXDX Dyna Sport, and everything was done HD factory pretty much... some trick stuff on there, such as the Kurakyn tank with led fuel guage and volt meter built into the left filler cap...

Love it to bits, as it looks quite stock until you look a bit closer. Once lights have been changed will spin it around for the rest of the month, then will have a think on what else to change over the winter.

Friday review - wheel it out this afternoon, paint turns out to be flip paint - purple to blue on the flames over black, as you move your head around the flames change colour...

...hold up what's holding that huge tail pipe on?

Nothing! Just the pinch bolt (M4) at the front. A quick exam of the internals also revealed an adjustable valve thingy at the back, which can be closed or opened depending on how quiet or how fast you want to be - which was almost closed.

Now HOW did a 1550 hi-comp motor NOT blow that tail pipe off on the way home?

*Thinks* huge tail pipe coming off at a ton in the rain yesterday and watching it bounce down the road and through someone's windscreen...

Not Pleased - phoned dealership to tell 'em I was Not Pleased, so they are fixing it on the double tomorrow morning. Have bodged a bracket to hold it in the meantime...

That 16" front wheel works just the same as one my EFE's - if you grip the bars like grim death then it weaves all over the place, relax and it's rock solid.

That ain't good.
I always make sure that the bike can be lifted off the ground by the exhaust, if not it ain't on strong enough.
And if you tighten the pipes up to the head first, to ensure a good seal, you shouldn't have to flex or pull 'em at all to line up the bracket holes.
If you do have to, it will break eventually.
About that bolt on the pipe clamp... M4??? Never in a million years, you know how big M4 is? It's like summat off a watch strap, nope, not having that fucker.
