Default Moving House!!!

Anita and me will probably be moving house next month, the local council have found us a lovely 2 bedroom bungalow only 2 miles away.
We went to have a look at it today, and it's in excellent condition new carpets throughout and was only decorated a couple of months ago, so to say we are pleased would be an understatement.
This hopefully will be our last move, we have lived in this 4 bedroom house for the past 16 years, it's the longest I have ever lived in one place in over 63 years.
The problem is that we have a 4 bedroom house with 16 years of stuff, we are going to have to get rid of a hell of a lot to downsize to a 2 bedder

You're moving in a month!

I'm not moving till next year and I'm already worrying about where and how to get rid of stuff, and trying to decide what to get rid of

The more I chuck out ... the more 'stuff' there seems to be!!

You'll feel so liberated when you've chucked it all out. We did when we moved here although we moved to a bigger house.
I just thought why am I towing around all this rubbish all the time and out it all went.
Doesn't pay to get emotionally involved with "stuff". You could have a minimalist house All white with one chair in the middle of the room Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Only problem is we got rid of all the rubbish and our current house is bare!
Good luck with the move!

I feel for you guys Kingo, I really do.
My house is called 'Chaos Cottage', and even though it is tidy, it is crammed with 'stuff', mostly skulls on the walls and that. If I ever had to move, I would need a holiday to recover from the stress...........
It's amazing the 'crap' you accumalate eh?
And as Mrs R said, you do wonder why you drag it all round with you, but it must be a great feeling when you finally get shot of it all.........

Good luck anyway mate, and I hope you and Anita will be real happy in your new home............

Don't suppose there is any chance of a house warming party?

Knowing this lot tho, it's probably not a good idea eh?.........

True, but so much of this stuff is part of my life - photos, mementos, useful things. The 5000+ books don't help much either!!

Good luck mate.
I hate moving house. All that disruption to 'normal', 'orderly' life.

BL loves house moving.

Got our youngest son around emptying my wood workshop shed, when he's emptied it he is going to dismantle it and put it up again at his, so it and my tools will get used again, he is a carpenter by trade.
I have not been able to do anything in the workshop for some time due to ill health, it's good to know it will all get used again

We would never throw out books! We moved from teeny tiny modern kennel house to big 1930's house. As a result all the rooms echo, weird.

Good luck I hate moving it's chaotic even before you actually move. I've only cleared one room in two weekends since boy moved out, and moved furniture here and there to make it gym come music room, and am knackered... but is worth it when we can move in our bedroom again.. but it puts me off moving for a while!!!
