Those areall sweet trikes, I need one ! Hello, I'm the newbie Cherokee aka: "Neal" from Olympia,Wa. Wanting to make a trike from my generic homemade chopped and raked frame powered by a 1978 Honda CB 750. Hoping to do this cheap with car parts and my sweat and blood. Any help is appreciated. I've seen chopped up car rear ends with sealed bearings and a sprocket in place of the ring gear with slots cut for the chain. Seems problematic, since car pumpkins are sealed full of oil for lubrication. Is there another way. I mean a solid axel with hubs for tires and a sprocket sounds cool but does that stuff hold up? Besides buying an expensive services rear end what's out there for a do it your self guy? Has this been posted before?

Depends on how big or small and engine you want to use. Not sure about Yankee leglislation on trikes. Here, in the UK we have MSVA which crops up a whole load of regulations. Here un the UK one of the most popular rear end axles used in a trike build comes from a reliant three wheel car or van. I don't think I've seen any three wheel vehicles in America though. :-

And this is what a reliant axle looks like. Ebay is probably th most popular way of find spares for projects. Shipping costs to the USA would have to be taken into consideration.
