Do they think that eventually they will wear the council down and they will give in to them? It is a pity that they haven't got something better to do?
My daughter's boyfriend works as security at a lot of mainstream festivals, as well as attending bike dos with us. Last week he was at one in Wales where there were severe problems with teenagers, predominantly, on PCP!!!! One bloke was restrained by about 20 security guards and then went on to knock 3 police officers out cold! Does it even make the news? Will the festival be on next year? I think we know the answer, don't we?

Guardian, Wednesday 27 August 2008 Article historyThe haul of weapons confiscated at the weekend's Notting Hill carnival included knives, a Taser gun, CS spray and a baseball bat, police said yesterday.

Officers patrolling the annual event arrested 330 people and stopped a further 151 potential troublemakers from travelling to west London.

Although the Metropolitan police said their "proactive" approach had worked well, and more than a million people celebrated, the end of the street party on Monday night was marred by battles between police and 40 youths throwing bricks and bottles.

Chief Inspector Jo Edwards said the crackdown - which included deploying knife scanner arches around the tube network - had helped ensure most of the weekend's 850,000 visitors enjoyed the event peacefully.

"It's disappointing that each year we see a small minority of mainly young men who don't come to the carnival until later," she said.

"They don't come to enjoy the floats and the music, they come to fight and commit acts of violence. We have seen serious incidents in previous years.

"For two hours our officers came under attack from bottles, bricks and any debris that was on the ground. These were officers who had been working hard all day."

Police had been planning their operation to combat violence at the carnival since May.

Tactics included sending letters to more than 200 suspected troublemakers warning them about their conduct and using warrants to search their homes for weapons.

But the carnival is a predominantly Coloured event so it would be seen as racial discrimination and a possible hate crime to oppose it But be fair they wrote them a stiff letter (bet that told them.)

Each comment is read by a member of their staff and they decide what comments to put on their website and what to delete. It's another way the newspaper has of putting it's own agenda to the masses.

We've known this was going to happen for a while. However, even if the police succeed on Monday, the Bulldog organisers can still appeal (during which time the licence stands) and Stratford council has already said 'Oh dear, the first hearing we can arrange will be 10th August...'

Trust me, the press briefing ACC Holland gave a couple of weeks ago was something else.

The police appeal will most likely get nowhere. Just add more cost to the local council tax payers bill.

When the appeal fails and that spitefull, nasty little shit ACC Holland once again has egg on his face, watch what happens.

After last years OTT police operation, which produced nothing but contemp and bad feeling for the cops, you can bet your arse that this year they will be going out of thier way to be even more of a pain in the arse to all of us that attend.

With all those armed cops around, most of whom do not look like they have a bloody clue about guns, how long will it be before somebody gets shot........ BY THE FUCKING COPS!

Chopper.

the armed police generally cant shoot for shit, dont worry they wont hit you LOL, and yes your right they havent got a clue about firearms.

as I have said before, the only animosity and aggression that was experienced at the bash last year was from the ol bill, oh the irony

I sincerely hope that the local people and council etc see the sense and stick to the current decision

either way it will go ahead this year due to the ability to draw out the appeal process, I expect that immediately after the battle for next year will begin

Sir, I fail to understand your position over the bulldog bash.

You say the Hells Angels use it to fund criminal activity, but surely the point of criminal activity is to make money from it. Why would you commit crime that costs you money.

If you are right that the Hells Angels are a criminal organisation then surely if you close down the Bulldog then they will have to commit more crime in order to make the same amount of cash

Harry Bulldog fan for twenty years

and a tax payer.

i would have asked them to point out under what precise piece of legislation they were threatening to take his bike off him, and i would make a point of writing to the chief constableon return. plod have got to answer complaints against themselves under their own rules. imagine how much of a spanner in the works it would be if the local police got 10,000 letters of complaint over a single event!!

It's a good job we are lucky enough to live in a country that is free, and that we have free speech, and the right to protest.

Not like those poor Iranians.

I could see that, stretching the point, they could charge him with public disorder (and if you get cuffed and complain loudly then that just proves their point) but I can't see how they could confiscate his bike. Surely vehicles are only confiscated if used in the commissioning of a crime or no tax, insurance or licence....

The act is usually used on drunks and abusive peeps in the street....

i'm Gutted i couldnt make it to the show this year i had a Entry to the custom show but the bluddy harley wasn't ready

that aside

I'm hoping that enuf people go to the hut onsite and register a complaint against the Heavey handed over the top Policing that seems to be taking part at the bash

with enuf complaints from the showgoers and the Local People , maybe they'll be a chance to build up big enuf case to take the complaint to a higher authority and have a full investigation to curb this rather biased appraoch to a event that has a 23 year history of providing entertainment to a lot of Happy people

This may be the chance to use this weekends abuse by the Warickshire Police to strike back not just for the sake of the bulldog bash but to all events and rallies

As has been seen in the previous years its not just one event that is being affected .

Should the police in warwickshire ever win in the attempt to shut down the bulldog i feel this may set a future for many people that may eventually se the death of practically the entire rally scene

Its hard enuf now to even set up a small rally for 500 People let alone orginize the Bulldog

maybe this weekends events will make people sit up and fight for the other events that we all enjoy and take for granted

as an aside i hope that everyone who made the effort to go had a wonderfull weekend "restictions aside"
