I have purchased a fuoco 500 trike but having difficulty getting insurance especially as i'm in Northern Ireland ! , I don't have a full bike licence but have full car licence does that make a difference , do you need both?!

Cheers

No you dont need both licences either one will do, have you tried Highway Insurance co, they insured my Hiyabusa Trike for 150 full comp. the guy I sold it to lived in Ireland and he insured it ok there.

You need a provisional CAR licence now. (P) Bike license doesn't cover a trike.

Single seat.

I'm also in Northern Ireland and have my trike insured with Bikesure. Just got my renewal today 109.50.

www.bikesure.co.uk or 0844 888 8908

Mick

PS. Just check that your licence has Category B1 if it's a full car licence it should and that'll do you. Not sure if you can ride it on a provisional here - you'd need to check that with DVTA there are some differences between ours and UK Licence.

The Fuoco is a motorcycle, not a trike, if its wheel axle was 10mm wider it would be a trike, stupid I know.
The newer Piaggio MP3 400s are wider & thus a Trike & a car licence is required.
I've had 2 Gilera 500 Fuoco's great fun, but a bike licence is required, unless you widen it, & SVA it, to change it taxation class!
I insured both of mine with Bikesure no problem.:thumbu:
