So custom insurance then?

Future Bike comes up for renewal shortly and Flux are a bit expensive (261!) - anyone recommend anyone? :)

ianoldkwak 27-07-2009 11:38 AM

Nik, thats not bad, especially with your history ;)

Mine's 200+ notes for a trike with just a years NCB and clean licence.
260 2 years ago for a zzr1100 streetfighter and a early R1 on same policy with 3 points. I'm 43 too.

You'll be able to afford it now that loverly trikes goner be (has been?) sold. Sad day after all that effort

Captain Smurf 27-07-2009 11:51 AM

I've got the Zed and the RF600 on one policy here http://www.ebikeinsurance.co.uk/index.php?source=1208

did have the Guzzi on it as well, and might put the VN on when it comes up for renewal

So far Flux have been the most expensive on just about everything - Carole Nash did me policy for my TL that was about 120 cheaper ...

:)

Got my hardtail chop and winter hack on the same policy with ebike, cheap as well.

*Ace* 27-07-2009 12:25 PM

I have shopped about in the past but always seem to end up back with CN, she does a good custom/classic policy. I always try for the classic policys too as they can be loads cheaper, if you have 2 bikes dont forget to half your mileage too.

Nik 27-07-2009 01:31 PM

eBike is 100 less at 161 ... time to try Auntie Carole, I think. :)

chop it 27-07-2009 02:21 PM

I tried to insure my hardtail once telling them everything, all I got in return was a load of questions about engineer reports they wanted. I gave up in the end and just told them what it said on the log book ( no mention of modifications there ). Thing is, I would rather it was above board and legit. Where do I get the engineer report, what is that all about?

Grav 27-07-2009 04:27 PM

Critch uses Footman James for his customs and has done for many years.

I left Aunty Carole after being given a renewal price that was 100 pounds more than the quote I got from them online.

I got a decent quote from H&R off the bike insurer website.

matthewmosse 27-07-2009 05:26 PM

Well I left Aunti Carol after the engineers reports balls on my bmw outfit with the l/links etc. Went to Lynbrooke, multi bike multi rider classic bike policy. Cheap but my records not too bad and I'm low risk area.......... Very flexable on their policys if you're fussy about wanting buy back salvage which on a few of my bikes I always would.

critch 27-07-2009 10:23 PM

footman james are great on my harley even with theQ plate and gas(110)

fekkin awful with the gixers though..... im trying e bike and aunty carol for them next......

Creature 27-07-2009 11:29 PM

my gs1000 chop's with direct choice (full comp and all mods notified including the nabd mods 76.00) found them using the online insurance sites give them a try www.moneysupermarket.com, www.GoCompare.com/Insurance , www.confused.com etc.........

but then again never made a clain and have non interupted no claims discount since i was 16 :):) (god thats a long time ago)

John Hopkins 28-07-2009 08:01 AM

As a general rule I find you pay a little more for each year of loyalty. As a rule of thumb most insurance companies give discounts for new business.

If you want to stay with a particular insurance company get a lower quote from another one then contact your insurance company with the details of the lower quote and they will almost always try to beat it.

The Changeling's insured with Carole Nash - okay, it's not a hardtail, but it's a Q and they didn't want an engineer's report, just a couple of pix.

:)

When I went on the eBike site to get me quote, they had a list of mods to tick ... so I ticked them all practically. :)

Which is the cheapest for trike insurance ?
Do any of the above companies do trike insurance as the cheapest i can get my z1300 trike done is 260 thats with 3 points for speeding and a years ncb
Its off the road at the moment simply because of the cost of insurance :(
Online would be best as i am sick of telling some muppet on the end of a phone line that a z13 trike is not the same as a z13 as it has an extra wheel for a start

260? I dream of paying 260 for my trike - I paid 400 and summat for mine with Bikesure ... :(

irishbiker 28-07-2009 01:08 PM

For my special I went with Footman James, even with my mods they were miles cheaper than anyone else, Tho they did ask some questions about the increased HP when I swapped the engine from 984 to 1204 and they increased my policy by....... 2 quid :)

chop it 28-07-2009 01:56 PM

just tried ebike, 118. Thats less than I pay now! I will be changing that when mine has run out. Thanks for the advise.

 .............

coveredinants 28-07-2009 03:56 PM

As a new rider I was worried about how much insurance was gonna cost. Had one joker site wanting 4462! I even felt the need to phone them up to ask if it was a joke.
After a phone call to bikesure, telling them everything I had done to the bike they have insured me for 140. All they wanted was 3 pictures of bike.
I was pleased with that considering it's me first bike, no ncb etc.

Yes but your trike is worth 8k plus and do not have a bit of a naughty past points wise ?
My trike is worth half that, i only have 3 points ,and the trike was gonna be kept in a garage and do fuck all a year mileage:(

Creature 29-07-2009 12:46 AM

i doubt very much you will beat 260.00 for trike insurance - now they are comon place the policys pricesseem to have gone upwards (as with everything in the fecked up country)
