100% Biker goes digital!

Morning/afternoon/evening (delete as applicable), how’s it going? By the time you read this, you’ll be able to log on to the www.digitalnewsagent.com website and download the latest copy of 100% Biker to your computer. You’ll get the whole magazine, supplements, ads and all and you'll have the ability to zero onto a particular page or photo and zoom in close without losing any picture quality. In fact as it will be digital, the images will appear sharper than the printed copy.

100% Biker Digital will not be web-based and will be a self-contained file so you can download your copy to, say, a USB memory stick or your iPod, then pop it into your lap-top and read it wherever you like - on the train, in the office, on the bog (if you fancy taking your lap-top into the toilet with you), anywhere! Back issues will also be available ready to download at the click of a button too. And if you are struggling to find a gift for a loved one then you can buy gift vouchers redeemable on the website for however many issues that your voucher will allow.

100% Biker will still be printed every four weeks (that's thirteen issues a year!) as usual and the digital version will be available on the same on-sale date as its printed counterpart. We’re hoping that 100% Biker Digital will make the magazine a global product giving our overseas readers the chance to get the latest issue on the same day as British readers and, as there will be no postage costs, it will be a lot cheaper for foreign readers - typically £1.97 instead of £11 for somewhere like say, Japan. Sounds like a real bargain to me!

Log onto www.digitalnewsagent.com or www.100-biker.co.uk for more info.

I'd have thought that with a new way of distributing the mag you'd have done a "free sample" as it were, perhaps a back issue, (that way your not losing any orders)to let purchasers see exactly what they're getting for their cash and see whether or not the new format is for them or not........

Grav 01-02-2007 01:39 PM

Typical Jock, wants a freebie....... :D

can I have one too.

If you look there is a free sample on there under Magazine of the Month. Right hand column. Hope you are impressed, I have a feeling you will be.

Having said that I am sure there will be something to moan about, always is on here :p :D :p

Downloading my free copy of VW Camper magazine, will let you all know what its like. (As a member of the VZI forum, that'll do for me)

davesatan 01-02-2007 08:08 PM

i keep getting a vw one free whats a beetle

shaggy696969 01-02-2007 08:08 PM

Always nervous of downloading .exe files like the free sample, claiming to be something you cannot check first , Not whinging my oppinions on the mag of recent are plain, But wouldnt you be able to download it then upload it via file sharing and et voila free issues online. Which would be a dead loss for the magazine surely.

Lyn 01-02-2007 09:18 PM

Very clever idea. I downloaded the free camper mag, on my comp it took about 3 mins which is a lot quicker than going to the news agent to buy it or waiting for postie to bring it and also cheaper and more environmentally friendly.

For me it was fairly simple to read and navigate, for some people it will take time I think.

I still quite like the feeling of having the mag down the side of the sofa!! BUT i could on some occasions pay and download it and I think as long as you keep reminding the online community that it's there, eventually people will get used to it and start using the emag instead.

Good luck with it.

Grav 02-02-2007 12:23 PM

The free copy you can do that with. However the paid for magazines can only be read on the computer you download it on and cannot be illegally distributed. Clever stuff! :)

Thanks Lyn, I agree with everything you say, it is very VERY cool :D

Grav 02-02-2007 06:40 PM

Yes yes, very nice, but what about that surfboard? No good having a camper van without a surf board. Oh and a beanie hat, bermuda shorts, a t-shirts with "I'm with stupid" written on and some seriously dodgy drum and bass and so forth and so on................. :D

Dougie 02-02-2007 06:57 PM

Feck off,I'm gonna be driving a VW camper in two weeks time,NO beanie hat,NO Bermuda shorts,NO I'm with stupid t-shirt,and it's deffo gonna be a drum'n'bass free zone! :p

Bassman 02-02-2007 07:09 PM

No.. but Fran will be wearing those things eh? :D

Dougie 02-02-2007 07:10 PM

Only read it on the computer I download it on?
As opposed to downloading it and then transferring it to my laptop or work PC so I can read it where I want?
:(

To quote Nik from earlier in this thread
"100% Biker Digital will not be web-based and will be a self-contained file so you can download your copy to, say, a USB memory stick or your iPod, then pop it into your lap-top and read it wherever you like - on the train, in the office, on the bog (if you fancy taking your lap-top into the toilet with you), anywhere!"

On the basis of that I decided not to renew my postal subscription, as it makes more sense for me to copy stuff to my laptop, and take it to sea, rather than carry lots of magazines.

Please clarify:confused:

Slight problem that should be looked at...

.exe files are less use to me than a chocolate teapot. Macs, thanks to iTunes and the new generation Mac Pros and the iMac are starting to increase their share of the computer market.

Isn't the magazine put together with Macs or something?
