Hey Bunbag!
Depending on where abouts in Yorkshire (the Blessed county!) you're heading, the answer is YES! It is looking pretty grim – North Yorkshire Police have started this policy you're on about. A bunch of Nimbys (Not in My Back Yard types) have got 'friends in high places' to whinge on their behalf in parliament. These friends have got their friends in North Yorkshire Police therefore... etc.
What doesn't help is that there have been a lot of idiots getting killed on high powered sports bikes - enough to get people up in arms about it. (Before KLRRob goes off on one, it is the idiots that are being dickheads – not everyone!). So I would be a little careful, at least carry a full size plate in your bag with you so you can change it. Also, you'd normally have 14 days (I think) to change it over (even better if you know a friendly MOT man!)
