we were using a khyam for a while but due to the fact that the poles are all locked together the lengh of the tent made it a pain in the ass for the trike..
so we have now gone for a £60 one from halfords, packs up small, but still has loadsa room in it, we have now also gone for the snugpack sleeping bags too .. now have loads space for d'oros shopping !!!! :D

Hi gear 'sperrin' umbrella tent.

takes 30 seconds (literally) to put up. had it for 3 or 4 years and is still good.

works like an umbrella - you climb in the door, grab the pole in the middle, shove the handle thing up and thats the main bit up. two 'normal' poles for the porches at either end.

supposed to be a 4 man tent - but is a 2 person + lots of crap in reality.

cant reccomend it highly enough. e.g. http://www.charlescamping.com/Sperrin.html

Me and Mrs R've got one of them (Highlander 3), bought it about 3 years ago and it's brilliant. OK one of the knuckles has snapped but that's down to over-exuberance when packing it away (and I mean OVER-exuberance one wet Sunday). Even so, Khyam will replace bits and bobs for you and if it's over three years old, they'll do a refurb service for not much money (guess where ours is going at the end of the rally season?).

They're also pretty light and easy to put up (just ask Mrs R!! :D)

i own several - but the most used are both from ALdis.

3 man dome cost £24.99 brought 2 years ago and still giving sterling service.

5-6 man tent broaght earlier this year. HAve used this a few times and altho takes 5 mins longer than the dome to setup - is great with 2 compartments and space in between. cost £49.99

both fit onto my chop (I know kingo everyone says its amazing what i manage to squeeze on teh old girl).

I use a Kyham Highlander at mo - word of warning - theres no frigging ground sheet built in! Apart from that it's brill - secounds to put up & take down & guaranteed to fit back in its bag with room to spare - for a ground sheet i presume.

I still have my Aldi special but use my Morrisons cheapo these days. Khyams are easy to put up, especially if your not too good at bending and kneeling etc.

we got a huge tent for £99.99 from Milletts. It only uses 3 poles and is really easy to erect. Walk in and walk out without bending , including the sleeping area. You can stand up in the middle and around the edges without having to even slightly bend. I'll try and find a piccy...........

cant find a piccy,, do you have one Yoda ??

BTW the tent is a Eurohike and its sort of semi dome and semi tunnel if you get my meaning ?
