Browser was open whole while - just surfin about a bit, sort of like stickin my head in through the tent door and peering round the corner while looking about a bit! - must'v auto disconnected me or summat.

And besides, it's been a long week end, I'm knackered, but my head is in hyper drive - took my little cousin to the 'bash, and now she SERIOUSELY wants to build a trike - before she just wanted to build one - but now, having dragged me UP and DOWN and UP and DOWN the camp site, looking at EVERY bleedin thing with three wheels, and then back to the custom tent, and back again, to look at the Guns and Roses GIXER parked opposite the Rat Pack.........

Any way, guess I got to do the engineering bit for her...........

So - where do you begin? any advice tips or warnings?

Got the bit about SVA and cheque book builds.

Thinking along the lines of a Honda VT500 and a relient robin back axle, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to attach the two.

Sort of idea I have at the minute, keeping it simple, is to remove swing arm, and make up a pair of trailing arms to fit in it's stead, with pins on the end to bolt via compression bushes to a plate welded onto either end of the robin axle, with the stock VT shocks turned through 90 degrees, and mounted on swing links between the trailing arm and the stock mounts - so that there's no actual butchery of the stock frame, and hence no real problem with vehicle ID and registration.

Was contemplating copying Range Rover rear axle location design, by welding a ball joint to the top of the diff housing, and having an A frame under the sub frame and tie rods from the ends of the axle back to a bracket by the swing arm pivot - but looking at it, that might be a bit over complicated.

e-bay looks like a good place to find a VT500 cheap enough, but any ideas on a relient back axle, or alternatives?

She's yet to find the money she needs for it, or the space to work in, and I'm pretty sure that she doesn't know the difference between a shock absorber and a cam shaft, so I have a horrible suspicion that my garden may well end up full of even more bike bits, and I might JUST have MY work cut out 'helping' HER build HER dream machine HERself!

But, then that's just me rambling - bloody woman, giving me her stupid ideas, got enough of them of my own - most of them in bits in the back garden!!

OK, so now I'm at the bar............

I refuse to buy ANY-ONE a JD & Coke! Sorry

I'll get you a double, without the fizzy syrup, tho'!

That's the favoured drink amongst my cousins cronies - and it REALLY gets on my tits - they seem to think that they HAVE to drink Jack to prove that they are 'real' rock people

Keep telling them, if they cant take thier bourbon straight, they should stick to the alco-pops!

Hi Chris, hows it going?
Right let me get these in, that'll be a Double Jd for freak, broon for yuse, and a pec for Heather, and Jay's holding an empty pint pot!
Yeah, some-one over on LROi pointed me over here; bit diffrent innit?
Used to be only two bike forums, Planety Bike, wot wuz full of Yanks still arguing over rice burners vs hardly dee's and Visor-Down wot was mainly arguing over tint specs!
But there you go - when I was last riding on the road, I dont think that the web had pictures!
Yeah, well you know where I'm at least ways, scally, sort of out of hibernation, back bikin' on doctors orders having been given a pescription to go get that CB750! And it seems to be effecting a cure!
So, finding some uses for it; bit annoyed that the panier kit off my old viffer dont fit it, and suddenly re-discovered the joys of trying to load up a bike with no rack or anything with whatever hold-alls you can find kicking about, and having to lock lids to the front wheel with a big chain, but hey aint 'cargo nets' a great gizmo!
Do they just beat old canvas army belts and soppy wet bungies the hooks pop off the end of or WHAT!
I'm impressed!
More impressed by the number of rallies that's going on an-all.
Dont know if the number is any more or if they are any beter than eight years ago, but finding out about them's a darn site easier on the net here, now innit?
Only ever used to do the odd ride out, before. Did the Island once, never fancied the BMF, and well the 'Bash was on my doorstep, being a Stratford lad, so seemed a bit daft to go pitch a tent in a muddy field on Long Marston airfield, and queue for the toilet, when I had a perfectly good bed and a perfectly functional bathroom, about three minutes ride from the venue! Was even less when they put the by pass in on the old LMS between the Shipston and Evesham Rd's by Lucies Mill!
Mind - would have taken a LOT less time to ride to my old house than try to find the tent on Saturday night, actually!
Actually, when I first got the viffer, I raced a light aircraft from Long Marston to Walesbourne; down the Shipstone Rd to the shell garage, round the roundabout, up the Banbury road, cutting down past the grammer school rugby pitch to the Loxley road, then hooning it all the way out of town, through Loxley, and into the air field at the other end. About ten miles by road, five by air, and I beat the bugger! Who says old honda's dont handle!
Any way, yeah, mi lil cousin 'Mouse' is helping me rediscover myself after the job the psyco did on me; feel a bit like an old pair of flairs that have been pulled out the back of the wardrobe, actually, you know, once 'cool', but then hidden away as a bit of an embarresement, only to be re-discovered and found to be 'fasionable' once more - or not as the case may be!
So, looking for things to do - her trike project being one that sort of has been thrust at me; Hey I've got an old Cota Trial bike to play with, a Viffer to try and restore, and an old Landy to fix up, do I REALLY need to be messing around with old despatch hounds and plastic pig axles?! Yeah, why not!
Mean while, she's chaperoning me to get me out the house and meet people rather than doing my noddle in round the house over the solicitors.
After a seven year break, does that make me a 'Born Again Biker' [shudder]
Spotted that East Mids Bike & Rock fest, looks good - band line up looks a bit more my taste than at the 'bash - though twas the second time I've seen terrovission live - but then they were unsigned and crap when I first saw them! So waz wondering about giving it a go. Is that one in your diary? any comments / endorsements? Still a bit tentative, it's on B/H week end, and she's not sure if she's going down devon to see her dad, yet, so I dont know if I'l go on my own, but, still......
Mind, going up to Edinburg to catch a couple of shows on the Fringe next week - my step-dad's written and produced them so I thought I'd better go pad out the audience for him.
Tell you what, boy has my social life taken off, now i'm almost single; two possibly three engagements in a fortnight - lucky to do that in a year when I was married, and that was only becouse she had a birthday, she wouldn't let me forget the anniversary, and the third occassionally came up if she remembered or could be bothered to do anything for my birthday!
Barman; seem to have drained this one - here, another all round, and just stick that bottle of JD on the counter and scatter some shot glasses, seems popular that stuff.
They do run a slate here BTW, dont they?

Kind've guessed that one - I dunno - more aliases than an al quieda agent you!

Actually, things ent going that well, tbh, its all dragging out, and the pillocks that be are as fucking bigoted as ever, and trying to paper over the cracks and make excuses for the psyco, who now is convinced that she's not, and I am, becouse of a psyc rept to court, where she managed to convince the shrink that she NEVER put a knife to my throat, it was all a figment of my immagination, and she's the 'reliable witness', becouse of some 'social acceptablility' test; now follow the logic of this one; it asks a bunch of questions, like 'have you ever hated any one?' and if you say 'yes' then you are a reliable witness, if you say 'no' then you are lying, 'cos 95% of people will have hated some-one in thier lives, so if you answer 'no' you must be lying, right? Guess what - I said 'No'!

fur fucks sake - she's changed her story more often than her knickers - but she's the 'reliable witness'?

It beggers belief mate; its like stepping into wonderland. No one can comprehend it; BUT, for some reason, she has the sympathy of the authorities.

Want a good one? She's tanked to the eyeballs on happy pills, becouse it makes her case look better - I'm suffering Post Traumatic Stress dissorder, so bad the bloody tranq's dont work - so am having to cope by dealing with reality, but apparently SHE is the one who is a 'making progress'!

FFS! of course she's making progress - there's nothing fucking wrong with her! She turned on the tears to get sympathy, then when the break down bit started working against her, miraculousely, 'got better'!

It's going to be a LONG hard slog, mate, it realy is;

And it's breaking me. I was beat last week. Abso-fucking-lutely. I couldn't even walk - I just wanted to go to sleep and not wake up - still do.

Which was why Mouse dragged me to the 'bash; to try and get me out and doing, and living again - taint making the **** better - it's still there - but I dont know - diversion does the job the tranq's dont.

Yes, probably up for the Sword & Stoned; just chucked the idea over to the mouse to see if she's up for it - not sure about flying solo at the mo' mate.

Any way; tell us about the 'bands' and the 'entertainments'? Who's playing? What kind of sounds? And what games are you going to get up to? (Intrigued about the Parafin)

Oh, and weener runs! Saw one on the fringe of a Rodeo about twenty years ago, and thought it looked a right laugh - and always wanted to have a go?

Answer to your Question, what kind of events am I up for? I haven't got a clue; guess I need to do a variety and find out, I guess?
