Can anybody tell me where the photographers doing the features find some of their models?. It's surely gotta be "Annorexia R us". Now don't get me wrong. I'm not being a party pooper here, but you have to admit that some of these girls are "super-skinny" to the point of looking ill !. For example, there is the young lady in issue the 53 Centrespread about Spikes Pitbull, named Janine. I mean, if you look at the front cover of that mag. You could ride the bike through the gap at the top of her legs!. You can see the thickness of the fork legs. Then look at the models legs... Not much difference at all. And the way her ribcage sticks out!. Good god... That girl looks like she's never seen a Mars bar or a fish supper! What do you lot think?.

I've got to agree with you to a point Tatt. I always liked REAL women!. Summat yer can grab hold of, and not be frightened of breaking the bugger!...lol. But I've just had a gander at the issue you mentioned, and you're right. She is a little on the, er, shall we say, thin side?. You must agree tough that there have been some exceptionately nice birds in there too?.

Cue return of the "campaign for real women". get yerself a good italian woman maties, passionate, cuddly and always a challenge (i.e liable to stick a knife in you while you sleep) eh Trikergal??? :D
Seriously though some of the girlies are very nice looking but some of them look positively about to die from malnutrition and starvation - it can't be attractive!!!

Less than 5% of obese people have glandular problems - therefore the rest of you consume too damn Łucking much.

Sorry - but I try to look after myself and I hear the same cr@p all the time about me being 'underweight' and needing to eat more - winds me up a treat!

Mrs Reject

We're not talking about the naturally thin here mate - my own son is naturally thin in fact positively Rodney in only fools and horses, he eats well and runs several times a week and as a result is fit and healthy. What I'm referring to is these feckin' women who deliberately starve themselves to dangerous weights to further their carreers i.e glamour models, hollywood actresses, Mrs Beckham. Starving yourself and taking drugs to keep your weight down is every bit as dangerous as being obese.......put your dummy back in :D
As a nurse I've seen young girlies with eating disorders who've destroyed their immune systems and as a result have died when the first serious illness came along as they had no way of fighting it.
Given the unatural hair growing on their arms I'd say at least 2 of the models I've seen in 100% biker are anorexic!!!!

I'm obese , i'm happy, i've never complained about it,, i cant lose weight or rather chose not to, i'm happy still, zero sit ups a day, by the way i'm still happy , no glandular problems but there's still time, but guess what, i'm still happy, lol.

Nitro wing. I wasn't trying to say I had anything against those who look after themselves, and keep fit. It was my own observations about certain models both looking and being unnaturally skinny. I really wish I did take better care of myself, but that wasn't what I was talking about. Yes, I'm 6'3", and yes, I weigh 20 stone, and yes I'm diabetic. I eat healthily, but I don't take nearly as much excersise as I should, which is where I let myself down. But these girls are, in my humble opinion, way too thin. I suggest you take a look at the issue, and the model mentioned. Then. Maybe you'll grasp what I'm talking about.

this time last year I weighed 1.5 stone less then I do now, and my eating/exercise habits have not changed...

until I was 26 or so I was naturally very very skinny with a gap at the top of my legs, I was also short so I looked like a 12 year old and was treated accordingly

having seen both sides of the coin I'd rather be fat

but I think the point is that if the media didn't promote skinny models then we might have less annorexics or scatty women starving themselves trying to reach some impossible 'ideal'

women are biologically meant to be fat so they don't damage their system when pregnant or breastfeeding

apparently Dove (TM?) used 'normal' women for a recent ad campaign and their sales rocketed by 700%

and look at sophie dahl now, she was hailed as the 'real' woman of modelling, and looked fantastic, remember the Opium (TM?) advert?

now look at her....she looks gaunt and ill, maybe she is gaunt through illness, maybe she just dieted a lot, but she looked better at her 'natural' size.

We do try not to use too skinny women, yes I agree we have used two in the last year, both came about for the same reason, both were girls we've used before (and they were fine then) we booked them, studio, photographer, bike arrives, model then turns up looking like a refugee from a concentration camp and we are stuck with the choice of calling off the whole thing,( sometimes the bikes have travelled the length of the country) loosing a ****load of money cos we've pre booked etc or just making the best of what we have.
And I'm sorry but we do the best we can, to models its a fine line between being skinny and being too skinny, we dont like them too skinny but the pressure is on them from all sides, there are so many girls out there trying to make a living.

Why does your average skinny person think it's their right to have a go at someone who is even slightly overweight (yes,I include myself as overweight,I was going to the gym twice or three times a week until an incident on a bus-thanx a lot LRT!-set off my sciatica again.I'm now waiting on the NHS to get their act into gear,I won't hold my breath!) yet one word of criticism against them and they kick off big style? In general I eat fairly healthily, not a huge amount, and don't drink alcohol to excess. My downfall is the litre of Irn-Bru a day,I do it for the caffeine (and the taste,Coke sucks) to keep me awake during my crappy job.My blood pressure's fine even with the stress I'm under, and a recent ECG showed my ticker to be in excellent condition. So,all you holier than thou skinnies, keep yer opinions about my size to yourselves unless you're prepared to reap what you sow!

On a slight tangent, while I remember, why is it that the people you see going in and out of health food shops are the most unhealthy lookin' creatures you've ever seen?I always feel like giving them a bacon roll...no,hold on,I'LL keep the bacon roll!B*ggers wouldnae appreciate it!
Exercise and "healthy eating" don't always mean you live longer,it just feels that way! :D
Just ask Jim Fix! Oh no,you can't,he popped his clogs when out jogging!

Recall this same sort of moan years ago about other models in mags. Also recall that the same real woman were getting slagged off because they carried a few extra pounds.
Be what you and if you are not happy change.
I was 18 plus stone and went down to 12 due to a illnes which meant i found it hard to swallow food or near the end water. Now after surgery am around the 16 mark and would prefer not to be,i also know that if i cut back on the drink and take more exercise as i dont have the phyiscal job i used to have i would lose weight. So its up to me.No moans

Well, well, well. What do we have here then?. Just got this months 100%, and the model on the centrespread proves what I was talking about. She's a feckin' stunner!. Slim but not underweight, and everything as it should be ( except for the plastic knockers, lol). Personally, I prefer girls with a little more "cuddle", but there's absolutely nothing wrong with this young lady.

Im 6 foot 6, 19 stone, done a stint in the army, climb, ride push bikes, press ups are a pain cause of bolloxed wrist, done boxin, played rugby etc etc. Ive now got a fookin beergut as i shattered my right knee etc and exercise hurts basically. Dunno why i typed this  Oh yeah, im fit but got a bit of a podge. Useless fact for you but the bigger person is more likely to climb Everest and the likes as the skinny athlete type cant stand the weather, dont have the stamina at heights etc. Im reading this and wondering if theres a point. Oh, my missus is a size 8, blonde, skinny and as strong as an ox as she's an electrician. When i moved to the Bog Lands (Sorry, the Fens) i weighed 15 stone, i never wanna be that again but im back to push biking and climbing, scrambling etc after a lay off with my missus not being to well.
Ah, the point. No one well give a **** what i typed here. Basically no one gives a **** how people are built etc so fcuk it.
Wednesday mornings are so confusing.
I have no point at all.
Skinny girls are fun cause you can lift em into great positions.
Bigger girls are fun as they usually have bigger fun bags and are more to rub yerself on.

Ye mighty gods of old....!

Take me ferinstance.... when I first met Mrs R, my weight had gone right up to 15 and a half stone. This was due to me being really pee'd off with the world, previous relationship was going nowhere fast (shouldn't have lasted as long as it did* - six feckin' years!!!!), so I'd really buried my head in work for CAMRA ('researching' pubs for the Good Beer Guide and being Kent Press Officer - should be renamed Good Beergut Guide' really!! :D see pic below! me on left) - I'd go from my day-job as a Graphic Designer in an evening, if I'd missed the bus home (one an hour, for reason for having no bike see * above) I'd visit one of three local pubs while waiting for the next one (all served excellent beer you see!), a couple of pints till the next one arrived.

Mrs R saw me and still fancied me - what can I say? :D
We met through mutual friends so we knew each other already. Once we'd got together, I lost loads of weight. Apart from the occasional blip, I weigh 14 stone (not bad for 5'11", heavy set build) and I'm happy!!!!!

And Mrs R... well, I loved her when she was at her largest a couple of years ago when we got married and I'll still love her whether she's fat, thin or whatever - I've seen pics that are really scary when she was really thin (as an air hostess!) and to me, she looks better as she's got older!

1) i have a thyroid problem, which means (amongst other things) i can eat anything i like and still never put on weight. i am 6ft tall and weigh 9 stone, but before you start, i am also a 32D, with 36 hips.fat people are just lazy overeaters, who refuse to accept responsibillity for moving thier hand to their mouth. how many people have you ever seen being force fed (except on an eating disorders unit)? HOWEVER! it all depends on what your view of fat is. i have seen fat birds that are only actually a size 12, but have flabby rolling bits sticking out all over the tops of their 2-sizes-too-small hipster trousers, and bingo wings hanging out of their halter-neck tops. i have also seen size 18 women who are curvy, sexy, and sassy, without any rolls hanging out anywhere. BIG doesn't always equal FAT. hell, even skinny can equal fat nowadays! how many celeb mags show pictures of britney spears and kylie with a bit of cellulite and then accuse them of putting the beef on?! as for the real women campaign, Dove's recent ad with the real women has boosted sales of their products by 700% you need to be fit and healthy to look good, not anorexic or belsen-chic.

I do try and take care of my health cos I don't want to drop dead at 50 or end up debilitated with a stroke or heart attack but what I really really resent is the kind of body fascist nonsense that goes on. I'd like fatties and skinnies to be able to go swimming or whatever and enjoy themselves without some a*rsehole finding it necessary to make an offensive remark. There is enough to worry about in life paying the bills etc without having to worry about something as trivial as whether or not I have "cellulite" or whether my bum looks big in my swimsuit (it does) or that I can't get into any of the hankies that are this years fashions!!!!!
I spent the whole of my 20's hiding away because I wasn't the right body shape or thin enough and I'm buggered if I let it bother me now - these days i let it all hang out and if folk don't like it they needn't look as far as I'm concerned :p
