can anyone help me? I recently passed my old Virago 535 (yes i'm a short arsed git) on to my partner (God bless her little cotton socks) problem is - she keeps running out of F**king petrol cos it aint got a petrol gauge.
I mean how can she keep track of how many miles she's done when there are so many nice things in the shop windows??????? Any ideas - aftermarket gauges - doodaas-or thingymybobs?? any ideas appreciated. thanks.

Fill tank, zero tripmeter.
Note mileage when it runs out.
Refill tank, zero tripmeter, refill tank before the tripmeter reaches the previously noted mileage........
Ain't it got a reserve?

Had a 535, thought it had a reserve light, can't remember. Otherwise re-set trip method, as used on my trike.

we use the trip method,, the only clock etc we have on the trike is the speedo lmao .. fuel gauge who need em,, we are fortunate though to have a 24litre tank, went from north derbyshire all the way to hampshire with out having to re fuel :D
I used to know an old fella with an MG TD (bit like a chitty chitty bang bang car) and he used a long stick, bottom bit painted red (reserve) and next bit painted blue (plenty left) and top of it left unpainted (over full)
he just used it like a dipstick
well, tis an idea

when we have a older 535 running with us we ensure fill ups at 75 miles
trip meter is best way..
