Former Great Britain RL captain Andy Farrell has been picked for the England Rugby Union elite training squad for the upcoming season without even playing a competitive match for his new club, Saracens. Apparently he has been training with Sarries as an inside centre and has taken to his new role extremely well. So, what do you Union lads think, will he be a success in the code like Jason robinson or do you think he will struggle when the season starts?

No, I think he is too slow to play at centre. I think he is too old to play at centre and I think that his knees wont stand up to playing at centre. Other than that he will be fine.

BTW - I reckon he's in this training camp as some sort of media beacon - plus it will teach him how to play the game a bit more.

Robinson was a one off.

what is the 'Rugby' of which you speak

Burn him he's a witch
PAT: What makes you think he's is a witch?
YODA: Well, he turned me into a newt.
PAT: A newt?
YODA: I got better.

Farrel at center thats a new one you planks, that is one of the positions he played at Wigan as well as prop, Yes i do think he will give 100% just as he used to do.

I know what positions he played during his excellent RL carreer, Gonzo, as I am a Wigan fan. I was trying to get some feedback off the Union fans as to what sort of impact he will have in the code.

Indeed, but Mr Farrell was a natural loose forward. Also, the position of Inside Centre in Union is far removed from the same position in the inferior code.

Don't watch League so I don't know the bloke you mean.
But,d'you not reckon it's somewhat unfair on the guys that have slogged their guts out week in week out that somebody (probably) gets an international place without really playing the code?We had much the same problem up here with the SRU bringing in players from Aus,NZ & SA who qualified for Scotland through a long lost relative from Auchenshuggle, whereas homebased talent didn't get a look in.(Not that it did us any good before someone points that out) Brendan Laney, poor bugger, they practically had a Scotland jersey on him before he'd cleared customs. That policy caused a good few arguments within Scottish rugby.
As for Jason Robinson it seems to me the international opposition have pretty much worked him out,the last few times I've watched him play he's been shut down rather successfuly.

I think farrel will do really well, he's a bloody good player. And think its good that he's being brought in. Face it we can do with all the help we can get at the moment.

But in sayiing all that were still world champions
