We were sitting here earlier tonight watching the tellybox when there was a thump at the window.Fran saw it all,she said a pigeon got bounced by something.I looked up and standing on the fence at the end of the garden was a very pissed off looking hawk, without his supper! The sparrows that frequent the bird feeders we've got set up have been conspicuous by their absence.Don't know what species of hawk it was,I couldn't identify it.Not what you expect on a Sat'day night!

I've always loved Birds of Prey. A few years ago (when I was wider in the waist and shorter of hair) at the Crawley PagenFed conference me and Mrs R were involved in (that's where we both knew we had a thing for each other - before we got together) I managed to have a go flying a hawk!
Me and Mrs R went on to sponsor a Raven for a year at the place the hawk came from - a beautiful huge great raven, we paid for his food and bills for a year. He was a right evil bastard - swore like owt! Apart from when we were around that is!!

We get a Gosshawk coming into our workshop to feast on the pigeons that nest up in the roof. The RSPB got quite interested cos it seems that Gosshawks are quite rare in London and apparently they don't usually hunt inside buildings either!

I'm totally fascinated by hawks, as a present I got a "Flying Day" at a local Owl sanctuary, where they have all kinds of birds of prey, I flew some of the smaller ones. I'd love to have a falcon of my own but they need a lot of time and I'm too interested in too many things!

indeed, that's what being the press officer for CAMRA in Kent (and researcher :D for the Good Beer Guide) does for ya! It wasn't just the drinking though, it was the going to weatherspoons, eating a mixed grill, then downing loads of beer on a regular basis. I'd got up to just short of 16 stone :bluergh!:managed to lose a stone and a half within six months of being with Mrs R enjoying a nice vigorous exercise regime!!!! ;)
