Does anybody know if you can get after market electronic ignition for a Z1300?. Just in case the black box ends up bolloxed.

piranah / newtronic im sure can do one - or buy two triple ones ;) ;) http://www.newtronic.co.uk/system/index.html
they dont list one - but i bet if you bought two triple ones - or three twin ones - they would help. they were really really helpful on the phone when i had a secondhand one, and they sent me a new breaker thingy for free!

Far as I recall a Z13 has but three coils.
Which tends to suggest that a box set up for any 120 degree triple (i.e. pretty much all of them bar the earlier Laverdas) could be persuaded to work on the wasted spark principle.
Do you have a mechanical advance set up? If not you'll need a box that has programmable advance and set it up to suit.
There are some black boxes out there that are fully mappable and will run fuel injection, ignition and even deal with a turbo in the mix which aren't madly expensive. They're designed for cars, but don't actually care as long as it's an internal combustion engine. Some of these cost less than I've spent on a (particularly wild) night out.
On the other hand I have a group C Zytek unit with ambient and boost pressure sensors, and 3D mapping which is programmable on the fly which is currently running a custom built injection set up with a couple of turbos. If it ever goes tits up, I'm looking at another mortgage.
Thanks guys. That's given me some food for thought.
