View Full Version : possibly my next lid
Alright forget the sellers low rating for a minutes and forget the fact that these are only available in medium but what are the safety issues surrounding glass fibre lids?

When i did my CBT back in coff coffff...
They told us that glass fibre lids where the quality items as they're molded in one go. lessens the weak spots.
Polycarb on the other hand where molded in 2 sides then bonded together. which was fine but they recommended relacing the poly ones every 3 years as oposed to the glass fibre every 4 to 5 years.
Is that any good chap? :o

looks like a pilots lid to me. so dont worry about safety issues, it wont have a bs kitemark, ce mark or anything, but loks cool. just try not to have an accident in it! local army and navy store was flogging em last year for 25-30 quid.

And lets face it. if they're good enough to wear whilst ya being ejected at 7 G thru a reinforced canopy i'm guessin they'll be fine for a volvo windscreen..

well if they are the genuine article and not a copy then they are good value. but i doubt thy are real airmans helmets. and if you have a spill, and any insurance company you claim for your injuries from finds you were wearing a non kitemaked, non acu aproved, non ce marked lid, then you will need a mig 21 to catch em running away from the payment.

check out army surplus stores first if you must buy one. they want nearly 30 quid for the postage for them, and there isnt much comeback if they dont deliver. you going to go to china to chase it up? like i say you can get them in the uk.
