We kept them untill recently, when the last one, Basil, died at the grand old age of nearly four years.
We still have four house ferrets, and also various dogs and kids.

Me and Mitch have both had rats, they are luvverly animals, very sweet. Don't keep them any more because the cats spend their entire lives staring into the cage and getting their noses bitten.

Used to have one when I was a kid and have looked after eight of my daughters friend's rats when they have gone on holiday.
Until recently we owned a couple of bearded dragons now sadly departed

Rats are wonderful, shame they dont live very long, considering how big thier personalitys are, they should live to around 40!
Our three live in the kitchen (so we sing the UB40 song alot.)
more inteligent than a lot of people.... mind you you could say that about sea-cucumbers too.

I used to have rats a few years ago. Hamlin, elle and duanna, unfortunately they all died with in a few months of each other.

Now we have 2 polecats affectionatley called dozy and stupid. Their real names are odin and thor, only cos one is smart and the other tempremental.
These are 2 of the most crazist creatures i know how they haven't broken anything i dont know. They've fallen off things, bumps into everything on a regular basis.

oh yeah we also have a mexican red knee tarantula aint named that one yet as its only a baby (2cm) and we dont know if its male or female yet. Its just known as fat little git at the moment.

Well my daughters boyfriend definately qualifies as a rat, but then from what I've read here that is being rather insulting to rats.

I used to breed rats

loverly pets

don't bite

don't try to run away (AKA Hamsters)

ours used to sit on my shoulder buried in my hair watching TV
or up my sleeve with just their heads poking out
their hands are human looking
they are extremely intelligent and can be trained (toilet trained too)
they are very sweet but sadly fancy rats are prone to benign tumours which seem to shorten their life
they only live for 3 years
suffer from red eye
are happier if you put sterile soil in their house area so they can tunnel but they also like to climb
we used to have a large cage, nearly 6' tall, with a big tree branch in it and the bottom half filled with soil, they loved it

sadly daughter became allergic to them so we can't have rats anymore

gypsy used to have ferrets

but they bite

:(

yeah had one ferret named 'pitbull' he was a right little f***er, used to throw himself at the wire on the cage just to bite lmao, had to give him away in the end

the other 7 i had were all pretty good, ok sometimes they used to play a bit rough ie bite down to the bone but most of the time they would just draw a little blood :D

We've been lucky with ours. odin is the cute one and can be really loving as well as a complete nutter when bouncing round the house.
Thor aint too bad, can be a bit nippy at times with me, but not with my hubby.
They love sheepskin rugs to play hide and seek with, plastic shopping bags cos they make lots of noise, and anything they can get into, onto, behind, round or different. And if you leave jackets or trousers on the sofa they will play in the sleeves or legs and try and get into pockets. :D

Makes life interesting though :D

yeah at one point i had 5 running round the house,,,2 of the little carpet sharks got into the stairs, had to rip the bottom stair out to free them, i made a 12ft by 5 ft run in the back garden for them, had 6 ft lenghts of cable duct in there and yes believe it or not a ball pool, one of them loved beer too !!! little bugger used to knock over my can of beer to get at it lol

I found a ferret when walking home one night (sober, before you start...), it ran up to me, crawled up my jeans to my knee and let me stroke it. It then buggered off into someone's garden. Cute as Łuck :)

5!!! gods we got enough with 2. I believe the ball pool. ours likes beer, wine, mead and tea (supprisingly not coffee). so when they are out we have to "ferret proof" the house, keeping all mugs/cans/sharp things/wires etc. out of their way.

Unfortunatley we cannot build them an outside run as we live in a flat and we've only got the front garden :( I am sure they would cause as much chaos outside as they do in the house.
