Had a bloke look at my old DT and he said it aint got a voltage regulator so as such the bulbs etc do the regulating if ya see what i mean. Im guessing this means a new Stator plate etc? If thats so im guessing shed loads of dosh? Im not really gonna use the DT to much on the road so im not sure its worth spending the money on having it converted to 12volt. It has got to be road legal though as the enduros im hoping to do have that in the regs. Anyone got any ideas? :D

Don't know if you can still do it,but you used to be able to remove all the lights and get a daytime only MOT.

Yeah, you can still do it but i want some lighting cause i wanna do night time enduros to. I may aswell just leave it at 6 volt i reckon, thats unless a cheap alternative comes up :D

6v electrics and dark nights do not mix. I know I have a bike made in 1940 and the lights are as dim as a NAAFI candle.....

Hows about you just add a 12volt battery somewhere, run the lights off that and charge the battery up at home. Obviously not the best way if you were using the bike for daily running about but if you only want lights for the occasional night enduro it could be the cheapest and easiest way to go.

ive got a 53 beesa with 6v elecrics, and the lights are spot on, i fitted a rebuilt dynamo, a solid state rectifier, so it charges properly, and a gel battery, so it stays charged and can be left for months without being used, then i got an led tail light bulb from a guy called paul goff who advertises in the classic press, and best of all, the same guy does 6v halogen bulbs, now my lights are as bright as a 12 volt converted bike, no problems at all. rob, it might be worth seeing if he can supply a 6v halogen bulb for the dt, sure is cheaper than a coil, cdi, set of bulbs, reg rec, battery etc etc
