I've just come into some money after waiting four years for an accident payout. I'm going to definatley spend some of it on the bike after doing the house up. Butwhat do you lot think of these options 1. Re do the Bandit 750 that i've got new paint etc 2. wait till next year and buy the new gsxr1000 motored bandit or 3. or buy a secondhand Bimota SB6 what do you lot think :)
Option 2. I've seen the picture in last months Two Wheels Only and it looks beautiful !
But then I am slightly biased.

Regarding the bimota, if you never want a good reception at a "proper" bikers hangout again, but you buy your bike for you not others right ;)
It does pull a lot of negative reactions from other bikers, but the exact opposite from people id have thought of as complete straights. And the reaction of italians, ive been accosted unexpectedly in garages filling up a few times by them :)
If you do get the bim, get ready for risking your license on a regular basis, they're not set up to pootle around and a lot of the settings dont make sense till you start to ride hard and "click" with the bike (suspension and the way it turns in quick, riding position, fierceness of the brakes etc) but then its a brilliant feeling.
I have a YB8E, I do not regret buying it at all and I have had it for 4 years now after getting it cheap because of motor issues (half a forrest in the float bowls). One day soon Im going to ride it over to rimini in italy for the hell of it just so I can ask for my tour of the factory in my best scouse accent. The thing is built by artisans and its nice to see all the little things everyone else doesnt see when your working on it (I do all my own work although a friend did the carb sorting) and theres some things from the factory that Im not even sure are legal (plastic fuel tank held on by rubbers??) . On the downside, because its a bimota, dealers will try to treat you like you have limitless pockets and a complete rodney (the guy who sold mine had taken it back under warentee 4 times because it was flat out at 120 and they told him thats how it should be , then sold it in disgust. Ive since had a indicated 185 on a autobahn and im a fat b*stard..) and some of the spares prices are a joke (£200 for one clipon anyone?) and flaky to get hold of. You will find lots of the bike is japanese though, hopefully even the lights (I had poxy italian tail lights that the bulbs fell out the holders on mid ride, some grafting of c90 bulb holders into backs later...)
I dont know if the sb6's are more refined being a later chassis design, but mine is a very raw experience, and its a crying shame that so many of them just got stashed under dust sheets because of their image and inital price... This is my perspective from the other side of the used and (much) abused fence, for what its worth ;)
