My insurance doubled. One year older/wiser and my insurance has DOUBLED??!!

The only explanation I was given was that the Insurance underwriters wanted more money. WTF?! I want more money too - but I can't just go to my boss and say "Oh, my hourly rate has doubled - because I want more money".

Carole Nash has consistantly beaten any other quote for the past 6 years :(
I don't know whether to be angry or cry!
I might just go and get drunk instead....

heres a good one for ya.......i used to have a CB650z, £140 third party, next year it went up to £160, i phoned up carole nash to ask why it had gone up as i now had 2 years no claims, just the way it is mate, we cant get it any lower for you, okay no problem ill phone around, you can phone round all you like mate but i bet youll phone me back, i phoned around for 10 minutes, got it down to £81.00, hmmm should i phone back??? too right i did, cocky little sh1t said i knew you would phone back, couldnt beat our quote could you, errrr YEAH ive been quoted £81.00, WHAT!!! WHO WITH? i aint got a clue what their called now but when i told this idiot he promised to phone me right back, he did with the new quote of £80.00 third party, very strange considering now 15 minutes earlier he swore blind that £160 was the lowest quote going

IMHO it all depends on who you speak to at Carol Nash. I spoke to 2 differant people about the same bike(s) and got 2 differant answers..The second bloke says oh no we cannt do it for the price the first bloke had given me..

OK says I...and puts the phone down..Rang back a couple o days later (fortunately I'd got the name of the first bloke I spoke to) and asked for him, refusing to speak to anyone else (who migt have been able to help)..

Sure enough I paid the original quote... £186 TPFT for a FJ1100 AND Z750 twin :) :) :)

Bit of a crapper that one......

Maybe time to put the gold-plated, Nitro-Injected, Turbo Charged, one off rolls royce silver-dream racer into storage mate.

In case it helps, the cheapest I ever found for insurance have been Mitchell & Partners in london.

I've been on the phone all week trying to find a sensible quote for my trike. I used C. Nash last year but following a long call (and wait for someone to answer) I put the phone down in disgust at the restrictions and conditions they were trying to impose on me. Anyway I checked out the forum and took your advice and rung Bikesure they've saved me £50 on the little trike and £200 on a quote for a V8. so thanks everyone who posted.-At times the internet is so usefull I'm surprised our latest government hav'nt applied direct taxation to it.
thanks again

Yesterday afternoon whilst out training, we all stopped for a coffee and a chance to let the trainees know what their faults are and how to change them, the one trainee,28, has just bought a brand new R1 straight from the showroom, i laughed and said you aint got a hope in hell of getting that insured, i could have died when he told me he had been quoted £400 fully comp as soon as he passes his test, how the hell can they justify me paying over £140 for tpft on a 20 year old 700cc???????

how about this for being strange.........many moons ago i had a Range Rover 3.5 V8, i phoned around for a quote and as usual they differed by around £300 from place to place, i phoned one company (sorry but the name escapes me) who gave me a quote of around £400 fully comp, but the i was told to try there other office in West Bromwich, excuse for me being stupid but if its the same company wont it be the same price???? NO we have a different allocation of insurance companies at each office so they might be able to beat the quote, too right they did, they got it down to £290 fully comp, its weirdest thing ive ever seen an insurance broker do

differing people with differing prices reminds me of when i rang the rac to buy european full cover for my B plated transit, knowing full well it had to be under 10 years old (it was nearly double that), and got a telesales guy who did it, and put it in writing.
He ended the call with the line "enjoy the policy, im going to enjoy all my callers today because this is my last day!", the paper came, and we claimed euro rescue too, and they had to honour it despite squirming cos I had it in writing ;)

A little update...
The GoldWing Insurance specialists wanted over £1000
Bikesure wont insure a bike that's parked in front of my house (It's either inside or not insured)
Motorcycle Direct were over £1000
Bike Team wont insure anything worth over £10k

Carole Nash dropped their price from £558 to £465
Running out of options now :(

You could try CIA in Rugby, (0870 444 2500 or www.cia-insurance.co.uk) I've just received my renewal for a multi-bike policy (Kawasaki VN1500 and BMW K100 trike) - £180 TPO. Same price as last year and I'm in Northern Ireland where insurance etc. is much higher than the rest of the UK not for any logical or justifiable reason, just 'cos it is. I refuse to have any cover other than TPO now after a previous experience of being badly treated after getting a car written off but that's another story.

I've just been to that website address I gave you in my last post, and discovered that you can get an instant quote online. Much better than some of the others where they e-mail you a quote a few days later.

Regards

Mick
