how can he proclaim that peeps are profiteering by reselling the live8 tickets.
they originally claimed that it was a free concert.
BUT
the cost of a TXT message to enter live8 comp = £1.50 ( plus network charges)
2 million + people apply
2 million x £1.50 = £3 million+ gross profit
less the £160,000 compensation live8 paid to the princes trust for them having to cancel their concert so live8 could be held.
so considering that the artists appearing etc, are giving their time for free.
that still leaves a tidy sum in the bank to cover expenses etc.

and don`t forget, they are running the TXT comp AGAIN for tickets to the scottish concert being held in Murryfield.
so how much MORE will they make?? :rolleyes:

I think Sir Bob is just very niaive. If he thinks wiping out the debt will sort Africa out, he will be sadly mistaken. I would predict that every country in Africa that was in the **** last week, will be just as deep in less than 10 years.
It is down to corruption, not poverty.
The best way forward is to put the money towards mercenary teams to take out the bent leaders. But then again, those in the wings waiting to take over are just as bent.

No, £3 million sales. You have to take off the cost of sales to get the gross profit. In this case that would likely be the cost of operating or paying someone to operate the system that handles the entries. So the GP is likely to be substantially less than 3 million

well live aid was pretty cool at the time but i think the latest live 8 thing is nothing but pure crap, i for one am sick and tired of hearing multi millionare (so called) rock stars telling me their opinions and how i should give my money away to more desrving folk. lets face it all they give is their time ( enough to play a couple of songs and then backstage to party) i would be more impressed with their integraty should they all just write a cheque for a million each to the charity they feel needs it most.
