Why is it that whenever I buy a bike I am then told "shouldn't bought that one ....." or "this model was well known for ......".
When will I get one that doesn't break down never to go again?
 :(

Simple,
Buy a Goldwing............aint saying they never break, but not very often.
Broke down once in 70,000 miles on my GL1100 and only once on my GL1200 in 65,000 miles, mind that was just south of Munich!!! That's another story....
I felt sorry for shade on BW when he bought his 1st bike
(had his test due for about 3 weeks later so hadn't even passed when he bought it)
but was full of fear and trepidation about test and amount of money he may have just wasted
(well he is scottish - ooer - might get arrested for insulting the scots - nah - I got scottish ancestors phew)
anyway he posted it on BW and I was shocked at the number of peeps who poured scorn on his choice, well when you've just spent quite a lot of money it does hurt to have your pride and joy (and your puffed up chest) pulled down a few pegs
but then I spose he did post it on a public forum for all takers to comment on
even so it wasn't very tactful
I think when it comes to bikes peeps are so passionate they have a need to express their opinions more
I think your bike is lovely though, whatever it is
:D

As my Dad taught me
"Son, if it's got tits or tyres you're going to have trouble with it"
Don't buy a bike that's worn out, unless you intend to rebuild it from scratch and look at the engine fasteners - chewed screw heads show a spanner monkey who doesn't use the right tool for the job and a lack of good engineering practice (i.e. replace butchered fasteners). If this is the standard of work you're going to have trouble with it!

I had a 250 superdream once too, but on day 2 of ownership it was repainted (thats a very loose term) with hycote neon pink warning paint.
This was lovingly finished off with the words "Slug" where the honda badge should have been in permanent marker, and this looked so cool we got carried away and doodled all over it with smiley faces and all sorts of weird stuff.
I took it for mot, and one of the guys in the mot station asked if i minded if they added to the doodling, so i said "feel free" and he went over and dropshadowed loads of the drawrings and emptied some dregs of laqueer on it to seal it all in and signed it.
For ages people tried to take the piss out of that bike but I wasnt interested, I used to tell rip takers it cost a tenner to buy and I didnt care what they thought since it was my bike and it cost next to nothing to run, and you could leave it unlocked outside and nobody would steal it.
Plod could spot it a mile off and after stopping me once to check all was in order completely left me alone.
Then I swapped it and the person who ended up with it had no license or anything, so he painted it a very normal shade of blue so as not to stand out. Last I heard he had got done by plod because theyd stopped him to ask him why he'd repainted the "horrible pink eyesore" finally!
If you want a trouble free bike, get something with HUGE amounts of performance, then itll spend its life at 50% of capacity instead of flat out.
