Weird spam emails

Anyone else had this recently?....

I'm getting loads of emails (up to 1000 a day) with the subject line either in German or saying "Dresden bombing to be regretted" in English.
some of these appear to come from addresses whose sites I visit (notable examples being MAG and Amazon), others from addresses I don't know. In all cases I get multiple mails from each address. Obviously I haven't opened any of them, just block sender and delete. Is someone trying to get control of my PC? I've got a firewall in place (Bit Defender).

Yes Shep and I have been getting them.....

I though it was our system because I work for a German company and I have also been e-mailing my friend that we are going to stay with on holiday in Hamburg.....so it is not just us.....

Along with those I have been getting messages that e-mails I have sent have been returned.Thing is I did not send them, we were away at NABD and the computer was not even powered up..... :mad:

Yeah I get those too; I think that's quite a long-standing scam. Whatever you do don't open or answer stuff like that, it lets them know your account's active and gets you loads more spam.

a couple of months ago I was getting emails from people telling me about spam they were getting from my website (sheffieldmag.org.uk) but they was using our old email addy. since going to the server and removing the old addy it seems to have stopped (hopefully)

Here's an amusing aside- apparently Bill Gates has a whole department who do nothing but check his email for him. I need one of those!

sounds to me like it's a MAG problem - I've been getting loads down the MAG NC email address

It does look like MAG have a problem with their site but I also have had them from mazon and The Horse Backstreet Choppers (US chopper mag) plus loads of others I don't recognise. Maybe someone's following my web history although like I said I've got a firewall so I'm still confused.

It's hit a lot of people over the weekend.

It's more than likely that it's NOT you that's infected. It's someone else. But run a full AV scan on your PC to be sure.

Or if you're from Ireland, run an AV Scan twice (to be sure, to be sure...).
