I've just been sent this from a mate. What do ya think?

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN GREAT BRITAIN ALL AT THE SAME TIME DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF PETROL FOR ONE DAY THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES. AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION POUNDS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.
THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR BEHIND DAY" AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF PETROL THAT DAY. THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.
WAITING ON THIS GOVERNMENT TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES! IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED A FORTNIGHT AGO? REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF PETROL GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC.

WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN. SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD.

FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE MAY 19TH A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF
GREAT BRITAIN SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

I think that all this will do is mean that MAY 20th will be busy at the petrol station.

If you need fuel today and you don't but it until tomorrow, unless you don't go anywhere, you'll need more of it the day after so they lose nothing!

sadly thats the truth, the fuel will still be sold, wehater it be the day before or the day after, down my neck of the woods, the petrol stations actually reported that they sold more fuel around the time of the last non buying fuel day, due to people filling their tanks just in case they couldnt get fuel for a few days, bit like the twats that clear somerfields of bread and milk as soon as they mention snow on the news!!

the only way that this could work is for it to done on a proper scale, and people to use public transport or cycle etc where possible, ram the buses etc to the limit, all being late for work, and actually not buying the fuel, thus affecting the businesses etc and the fuel sales, al;so highlighting the major short falls of public transport in this country

you think i am cycling 10 tonne of beer from bedford to london every day..you sir...can sit on the tandom seat and give me a hand... :D
seriously though...the only way to cripple everything again is to blockade the re-fineries...but as proved in the last one...it caused absolute chaos and disruption, but to what cost.......can there be another way! :(

people blame the oil companies, the biggest part of what you pay is tax

S'right. The Yanks pay about 50p a litre and they're going made about that. Its even cheaper in the Gulf - bout 30p a litre last time I was out there.

when you also remember it`s 2 taxes that you pay when you fill up vat and fuel duty that adds up to about 75% of the cost goes to the tax man

a good idea would be if people only used texaco garages for instance then the others would have to drop their prices to get customers back and when they do use only shell and so on until fuel prices are at an acceptable realistic level all round as soon as one has an unrealistic price rise boycott them again that way we dont lose out by having to do without fuel for a day or rearranging schedules to attend demos that dont seem to have much impact

Ever noticed that both Shell & BP are usually a couple of pence per litre more than anyone else?Or is it just up here?

Anybody noticed that in these hard times for the poor old fuel companies, being forced to put prices up because of the high price of crude oil, that most of them announced all time record profits at the beginning of this year! Don't your heart just bleed for them  .

Tisn't really possible to do that if you live out in the country, you have to use whatever you got local - unless you want to use petrol travelling to the petrol station..........

yes i can see that would be a hassle B.G but the rest of us could do it and i'm sure the percentage of people in that situation wouldnt effect the outcome too much

people are still blameing the oil companies when its tax on the product thats the biggest problem roughly For every £50 spent on a tank of petrol, £37 is tax

funny how ppl boycotted etc 8 months ago, I paid £1 a litre 3 months ago...its like demos for 2 weeks then the gov backs off then hikes it again but nothing said..

typical british mentallity, yanks and french would still be looting shops
