with all these "Custom" Catalogues knocking about ,and if you can afford it, and you decide to buy all the bits to build a "custom" bike from said bits, that is the frame, engine, forks, everything.

A) Is this a "Harley"? If not what is it then, (and how come if it is called a Harley, is it approved by them then, if not why aren't the catalogue people not being sued by Harley?)

B) Once you've built this "Custom" machine, I take it you can apply for a brand new registration no. and therefore being "brand new" no MOT required for 3 years? Or is it still subject to a "Q" plate, and SVA rules

Just wondered. Thats All!

would have thought it would have to go thr the SVa and registration the same as say a trike ... and i think most are now being given the Q plate as standard now

*confused*Erm No picture! I meant all those "Highway Hawk" and "Custom Chrome" type catalogues, where you can allegedly buy a complete bike in Airfix kit type form and glue it together with string and sticky back plastic.

So are they "Harleys" or what?

Technically no. They are a hybrid that isn't recognised by the big HD. If you were to put the HD logo on it they would either sue you or keep very quiet in the hope that the undecerning amongst the public would think it was a HD and therefore not think they are as crap as they really are.

Before the Harley gang get on my case, yes I do own one, no I did't build it out of a catalogue.

See? I'm not ignoring you, ... Um, who posted this thread?

If all the parts are brand new and you can prove it (reciepts etc) then I think they have to issue an age related plate.
But dont quote me on that.
