You'll find it a problem going direct to most carrier's as they mainly deal with account customer only, try ring round your local courier company's most will do overnight and international delivery's,but be aware the mark up can be as much 125%.

Surface mail is buy boat and your item waits until they have a container full - also theer is NO INSURANCE this way

Airmail upto 2kg is quiet cheep and very quick ive sent stuff to brazil, usa, canada, moscow, netherlands, australia adverage time 2-4 working days (quicker than most 1st class around the UK).

it is a good idea to use then royal mails website www.royalmail.com this is very helpful and if you get your weights correct saves a lot of hassle.

Only send abroad airmail/international signfor - saves a lot or grief. I recently sent a package to canada that was refused buy there customs (aids burgulars to break open safes - it was a pc game ) - if it had not been for international signfor i would have lost it...

Sometimes it is cheeper to split the package into multipul lots (especially magazines) which have a slightly cheeper rate.

stick to a small post office - get to know the post master/mistress they tend to be more helpful..

The REAL pisstake is US Postal Service.Their charges are horrendous.for example I emailed an enquiry to a custom shop in the US for a fatbob mudguard,it was $50,postage by US Postal was $75.Errm,no thanks!
