I have ridden an un mot'd bike to an mot as i'm told this is allowed as long as you can prove thats where its going, however i sorned the bike now so it now has no tax or mot....can i still take it to the test place legally?

Yes, as long as you have insurance cover and the test is pre booked, it says so on the sorn document ............

And as long as you go by the most direct route possible. I twenty mile detour to get your beer at the offy is a no-no..... :p

also has to be the nearest qualified MOT station - i had taht prob when MOT went out on chop a few years back - phomed MOT station got appointment got stopped by boys in blue and told had to use nearest MOT station - when I tried to explain to them that non in spalding would MOT my chop (take it to peterboro)they proceeded to go thru it with a fine tooth comb :( Luckily she had just been rebuilt - they said they would take legal action, i said fine see ay in court.

Didnt bother with solicitor - went to court and I handed letters from local bike shops as to why they woul;dnt MOT me chop (not the space or didnt feel qualified enough) the judge threw it out :)
