I've a Scottoiler fitted (to the bike obviously, before the resident smartarses start! :D ),with the double feed to the rear sprocket. The oiler does a fine job,but every time I park up there's a small puddle of oil (about an inch or so diameter) appears under the front sprocket cover.
So,is this a case of "they all do that ,sir" or is it just another oil leak?

Have you got the delivery rate set too high?

maybe you have a lot of miles worth of old oil/mud/etc caught up behind the cover.
it will act like a sponge untill it can't hold anymore then it dribbles. (heh i just described a great majority of the forum members) :D

AARGH to slow in replying to MDs post!
Mebbe just a tad,but with the amount of salt the council dumps on the roads I err on the rich side as it were.As the GS550 has a small front sprocket the centrifugal force is going to be quite high so the fling-off rate is also probably gonna be high.I may be answering my own question here!
And by the way,Dracken,I don't dribble,Fran woulda told me if I did! :D

i thought you just blamed it on the cats! hope its not the seal behind the sprocket though theyre a bugger to sort properly

Been there, done that! Wasn't fun at all.If it was that it'd probably be using a lot more oil than it is.

You can also get the feed fitted to feed the front sprocket too, much less crap over the back wheels, sounds like you have it set too high.
But clear out the crap just behind the front sprocket too.
I've had them fitted on my last 5 bikes and wouldnt be without one.........
