Does anyone remember the Quasar built in the 1980`s? i went into the industrial museum in Bristol for a piss and thought id have a look around, and there it was, fuckin ugly thing. But did you techie`s know that it was powered by a reliant engine. They also have an old green loadecker bus in there, it`s like a routemaster bus, but with the doors at the front near the cab instead of at the back and was built in bristol, i used to go to school on one ffs. You know your getting old when you see things you remember as a child in a fuckin museum, im going for my afternoon nap now see ya zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Newell innit?

I had a friend working in the HTV news room when the BMW C5 came out. Slow news day and they're looking for a story so Paula rang me to see if I could dig out a local angle on the C5. After a day of missing each others calls we caught up with each other and she got told me why she rang.

I suggested she went and looked up Royce Creasy, Malcom Newell, Quasar, and feet first motorcycles on the 'net. Unfortunately by then it wasn't newsworthy enough, so she was a bit pissed off.

Funny I always wanted one when I was a kid, I read about them in Bike magazine in the late 70's. Only ever seen one on the road though.

we should have a 100% outing there, I know it's cars, but they're good cars, not like the plastic boxes folk drive in nowadays

anyway, if it has an engine, or wheels, or wings, and it's mechanical

then I love it ;)

yes it is still free.they have an mockup of concorde in there too with lots of aero engines on display, it`s well worth a visit. if anyone needs to find it, it`s on the dock side behind the cranes which are also exhibits.

When I lived in Eastbourne many years ago now, Simon, the owner of the music shop - Cass Music - that I used to frequent 'cos our guitarist worked there owned one just after they came out. I thought it looked amazin', but definatly not for me.

Another 'alternative' of the era was the Stimpson Scorcher! A Mini engined trike in the format of a morgan, i.e two wheels ant the front and one at the back. It had a central bench seat and a steering wheel.

Whilst looking at a Suzuki 1400 Intruder last year (just a little too dear for me at the time, shame) This geezer says to me "Have you ever seen one of these?" and showed into his garage. He had a lovely old BSA three wheeler car circa 1934 and this Stimson Scorcher. So I said "Bloody 'ell, a Stimson Scorcher!"

He was really cheesed off that I recognised it!

As for a 100% ride out, I'm up fer it! The Gaydon Museum is a good' un or what about the National Motorcycle Museum? Ok, it's a Three n'arf hour ride away for me, but it'll be worth it just to meet you 'orrible lot, again!
