Well my beautiful custom GT750 finally went phutt today, it needs a new engine/engine reconditioning, cam chain, fork seals, cuddly toy, his and hers gift set, and it's going to take me three months to save up the cash to have all the work done on it to make it young again.
So here I am the whole of the summer with no bike.......well that's not entirely true! I have my sons CM125 at my disposal.
I will have to ride said CM125 to get to my holiday job and into town.
There goes my street cred and honour as a biker.....I feel like hurling myself off Beachy Head.
The R in Mrs R don't stand for righteous any more, it stands for ridiculous lady on small bike.
I'm off for a bit of a cry now :(

Mitch, if you are interested my z750 is sitting in the garage rotting away! drop us an email. The Carbs have been taken off, cleaned up and re-assembled and ready to go back on. The bike's been standing for at least ten years but turned over before the carbs came off. It's all there just need a lot of, err, tlc? I has a brand new Marshall deeptone and new hagon shocks. Just haven't the time to do anything with it. Was Project: Bomber Command. Have the v5 as well.
I'll take some digis if you want?

It is indeed biker street, nearly everyone in our close owns a bike and those who don't either have kids with bikes or are bike appreciators, even the old guys. It's seriously good :)

Yup, I'd look well righteous on that!!!
Big hairy bikers would fall before me in worship of their Goddess (in my dreams!).

Bollox and feck, now me son's 125 has blown up too - I am accursed I tell you!! accursed!!!
The left hand side plug socket has got too loose and the plug won't stay in there - blows out whenever you switch the b*gger on?
Looks like I am destined to be bikeless this summer. My son says it's been doing it for ages, hence he hasn't been riding it!

just whip the head off and take to small local engineering workshop and get them to helicoil it - may be worth getting other done at same time... its not very expensive and providing you have gaskets then you should be back on the road next day at latest.....

when servicing in future make sure spark plug threads are clean and that you do not cross thread.

Also when tightening - tighten hand tight and then just tighten carefully with socket - it does not have to be tightend down as far as the wrench will go - just a light tap on wrench is tight enough

Bosun

nowt wrong with C50's though prefer the raw power of a c70

i am not sure Mrs r and combustioned engined powered 2 wheeled vehicles is a successful mix

may you be back on the road soon

Just thinkin' FT

I don't think we can really afford another bike sat outside - there's enough out there already gathering rust. I think one more would be the limit really.
Thanks for the offer though anyway. I'm just hoping that we can get some money saved in the next few weeks - I'm doing overtime and Mrs R's working in the holidays. We can then sort everything out - much easier.

By then, that flaming insurance company will have got their act together and start hounding the other side!

Friar Tuck
21-06-2004, 06:06 AM
No worries Mitch. I don't think it'll be going anywhere for a while1 Let us know if you want it?

Mrs. R. my very first road legal bike was a PC501 real cool! Especially with the front number plate mounted on the mudguard! Street lethal me, at sixteen, I was!

I got a helicoil diy kit if you wanna borrow it. :o

Mrs Reject
21-06-2004, 10:52 AM
Thank you Mr Chaz but no DIY is allowed around here - after the last time!!!! I am taking it in to be helicoiled this week so I can at least ride to my holiday job which starts tomorrow.
The worst thing is some of the other nurses are big hairy bikers (and that's just the women) so I'll have to park it round the corner and walk the last half mile to work wearing my Harley Davidson embossed leathers, bandanna and toilet seat :)
Funny thing is I can ride big bikes no probs but those 125's are well tricky, like riding an oiled stoat!!!!!

Nah then Creature!
Hmmm. looks like tha's been swallowin' Haynes book of lies! Non of the engineering shops here would touch it, so it's back to our friendly bike shoppe over in Polegate.

Anyroad, the GT's back up and running, the number 2 plug was so black, it was darker than't' night sky... no wonder it was only running on three. We may give it a go in't morning. Mrs R's job's on'y down't road! :o

Creature
21-06-2004, 09:16 PM
bummer - if you cannot get it done locally email me and ship it over here and ill get it done for you

Mitch
22-06-2004, 08:29 AM
Cheers for t'offer! Anyroad, it worked, Mrs R got to work OK on her GT - a bit of blue smoke where I cleaned the plug with meths but it ran better than it has for a few days.

Now to buy a gasket set from Dave Silver for the CM!

Mitch
22-06-2004, 12:31 PM
Ordered the gasket set - complete for £15 + vat and postage!!!!!!
that's cheaper than the old asbestos matting we used to have to put up with when I first started out... I remember a mate of mine back in Halifax who had to make do with matting and cornflake packets to use as gaskets on his GS!

Methinks the problem with the thread started when Simon's dad went to see him and tried 'fixing' the bike! Mrs R used her talents (lock-picking should be a doddle! :D ) to put the plug back in but alas, it on'y proved a temporary measure.

All that remains is getting my head around such a small engine being OHC! Oh I forgot, It's a twin! Why couldn't it have been a pushrod twin like the CX?

The GT 750 went like proverbial rocket on the way back from work!!!! I could not believe it, no rattling, no coughing, no stoats! Surely it cannot be as simple as the spark plugs and mix - confused of Seaford

Mitch
22-06-2004, 05:39 PM
Nah then Fayji and Creature ya pair of owd buggers!!!! Really showin' your age aint the'?

That was in 1990, I'll have you know, when I was a pup - and very confused by said cornflake packets, especially when me old mate Donna cut the holes in the wrong places for the oilways!!

ah the 90's
i made a bonnet builge for a mk3 cortina using cornflake packets and fiberglass
by the time we jacked the back up and tested spray cans all over it was a thing of beauty to behold (not) why did my driving instructor look scared?

mindyou my gpz550 was not a thing of beauty at the time either, only used wood from orange boxes on that (you really dont want to know)
