Feck! Have always prided myself on my perfect vision, went to optician's this morning and she said I have to wear glasses!!! I have also been banned from riding until my glasses arrive and told my night vision is dangerous.
No wonder I keep getting lost, keep missing all the road signs.
Spent 2 hours trying on glasses but still think I look daft in all of them. Don't wanna wear glasses *sob*.

just goes to showhow bad eyes can get without you realising and i dont think its fair because being diabetic i have to renew my licence every three years and to do it i need a full medical. This time my eyes are border line so i may not get my licence back but my vision may be better than the 50 year old in front of me in the volvo who passed his test at 18 and never had his eyes checked in the past 32 years. SOrry to rant but had to get it off my chest it was starting to hurt.

Thanks peeps, I feel a lot better, shame I look like that gormless tit off the specsavers ad. I'm not sure trendy eye wear is me really.
But at last I have been exonerated, now I know there is a valid reason for riding through red lights, missing all the road signs and getting lost all the time, not to mention not being able to see anything at night. I'm not a total moron after all - just couldn't see!
Mitch is worried I wont fancy him any more when I can see him properly silly sod....*Oh hi Mitch! ARRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH*
Didn't know you were diabetic Danny! Know what you mean though, often you don't realise you have an eye problem until you go for a test and then when you get glasses you wonder how you ever got about or survived in one piece. How many drivers out there with that problem as you say?????

Devilish Matt

From experience, its usually the drivers wearing baseball caps that have problems driving safe....

Theres a kid at the end of our street that drives a toyota starlet (cool huh!) with big spoiler, alloys, stupidly large exhaust etc. , he drives with no seatbelt, wheelspins any opportunity and jus to top it off wears sunglasses at all times, day or night....

I know exactly how you feel. But you don't look daft - you just look different.

I first had to wear glasses at the age of five - I went through the windscreen of a car when I was very small and irreparably damaged my left eye. Like kids do, I just compensated and never bothered to mention to anyone that my eye wasn't very good - by the time my primary school teacher noticed that I was copying off the kid next to me and not from the blackboard my right eye had become permanently weakened from trying to make up for the left.
The lens in my (National Health!!) glasses weren't the nice slimline shaved down ones you can get now - they were almost half an inch thick. I got my first pair of contact lenses when I was 12, and I can honestly say nothing else before or since has transformed my life like contact lenses.

Mrs R, the first time you go out in your glasses you will be surprised at how many people WON'T notice. They'll know there's something different about you, and you'll probably get asked if you'd changed your hair or your makeup. If you can afford it, buy yourself two or three pairs with completely different frames so, like having new make-up, you can change your look how you want.

And you know what they say, gentlemen make passes at girls who wear...

PS.

It's not 'bad' news.
It's good news.
Imagine if you'd been cracking along at night on the bike and missed something running out in front of you, or misjudged a corner because your sight let you down?

I know, thanks...I'll used to it eventually!!!
Contact lenses..reminds me when my son Simon first got contact lenses, he's got eyesight so bad he wears glasses half an inch thick.
He was so scared by this sudden 360 degrees crystal clarity of vision when they first put his contact lenses in that he wouldn't let go of the lamp post and walk down the street, he had to shut his eyes while I led him home!!! It was um..hilarious.

Mrs R
Go to specsavers and ask to see their rimless FILA range with thin (& crispy?) lenses with coatings
I have worn rimless for years now, and they are very durable, and these new fila ones I have spring back after you sit on them.

I find the frameless glasses are best as you see more of your face - have you tried a pair on ?

I'm sure any fruits wouldn't stay soft for long given your ministrations. You must be very popular at your local Blue Oyster Bar!

Mrs R. Don't worry about wearing glasses. I've worn them all me life. I tried contacts once but when my eyes watered I wiped them and out popped a contact! so that was a waste of money!

With glasses you don't have to wear them all the time, can't see buggery without them, though. Be thankful that your opticians didn't suggest that you have to wear those sexiest of goggles:- Bi-focals! like mine did a few weeks ago! I now have to wear varifocals! And I don't qualify for a bus pass until twenty years time!

Are they the ones that look like those glass bricks you use to build partitions between rooms or the ones that make your eyes look massive?
I'm going to give contact lenses a go!!!

That confused me until I realised you've probably never seen me without my sunglasses on.
And then you went and ruined a very nice compliment by admitting you are drugged out of your head! :D
