It dont matter about the kite mark, as long as it doesnt have "for race use only" or "not for road use", if they do its a fail!!

However it is up to the MOT tester, as long as in the opinion of the tester it is no louder than a standard exhaust sytem it will pass.

My local tester is buying loads of 2nd hand standard cans in at the moment, wonder if he will lend them out  Hope he's got summat that fits a 4-1 Micron

I see noise meters looming on the horizon tho, look at you reg document and see what is in the unused info .....

Like I said before gypsy ................ It doesnt matter if you DO have one of those labels on, the noise it makes is up to the tester "if a non standard exhaust is fitted it must make the equivelant to a standard exhaust"

If it has "not for road use" or "race use only" its an automatic fail.

So the guy selling them on ebay has lost his market now, if ppl have realised the new laws of course. Something I did find out tho, if the bike or trike is on a Q plate it is not subject to the noise laws .....

i comeing from a mot tester if its a chop then who can say that the pipes fitted arn't standard i would pass it as long as they don't say race use or words that mean the same

Can't understand what you wouldn't condone Gypsy?

Those labels are a con, the requirement for BS/En stickers was dropped from the Mot rules in the middle of last summer. Somebody must have a lot of stocks and are trying to offload them to folk that are ignorant of the changes.

Strider is spot on with his posts.

i have enough trouble keeping up with the trike regs, i didnt realise that the BS/En was dropped :D

I can understand this in terms of bikes.

But, for the majority of trikes (i.e. apart from Boom ones), there is no such thing as a standard exhaust - for a bike trike it would be probably 99% impossible to keep the whole stock exhaust system, likewise for a car trike.

I see noise meters looming on the horizon tho, look at you reg document and see what is in the unused info .....

Like in the MSVA you mean? Blooming trike failed noise test 1st time round.
