As opposed to the scots method, whereby they dont qualify so there is no need for the journey home.
Better to lose a match in the finals than not to play in them !!

Actually England won yesterday, by 4 wickets to clinch the series against New Zealand.
Well done to Scotland on their trouncing of Trinidad and Tobago, that well known hot bed of football in the West Indies.

Best not mention the rugby against the All Blacks then - wasn't it something like 63 - 3 to the kiwis?

To true Santa, they dont like to be reminded of when they lose :p but the needle gets stuck if they win, or blame the hand of god, when it was Maradonna that fuked them.

Wallace, the only needle that is stuck mate is yours, yes you are scottish, yes you hate the english, yes you are patriotic and yes the comments you keep making about the english are getting boring, and i can only assume that as you seem to know so much about the losses england have endured, that you follow sport quite a lot, therefore if scotland qualify for a tournament in the near or distant future, then you would be proud to back your national team.which is what all these flag waving english (and the majority) of british football fans are doing.
as for the coment about maradonna, watch the replays, note that he used his hand, and then put your hand on your heart and state that if it was argentina vs scotland and that happened the scots would not complain or moan about it...........thought not !!
p.s. my memory isn't as good as it was, can you remind me how far scotland got in that competition.

Dusty nearly right but not quite, you say ah hate the English, "WRONGE" Ah just love to wind them up. As for following sport a lot,"WRONGE" will watch the occational game mainly Scotland getting beat. AH have seen the replays of the hand of god. An aye Maradonna did cheat but got away with it, it saves us scots from listening to a replay of 1966 which we still get tossed at us nearly 40 years on. As for majority of british fans flag waving , that ll be south of border as most scots are backing Croatia "check your press". You may be getting bored, but ahm noo. Will always say ma piece weather peple like it or not. After all its a free country. :( :(

Nice one and Too true Shudy, but if we wait for MGM to make a film about it, we will realise that the scots didn't beat us it was the americans, led of course by that famous scot, Brad McPitt :D

Hi m8, Take a tip and buy as much of your booze an' fags in Portugal. Spain isn't bad and the ferry is expensive. Bit of a toss up regarding extra fuel to lug stuff up across spain (and possibly drink/smoke it all on the way) or buy before getting on the ferry. If you must buy on the ferry look for special offers ie Buy a bottle of good quality scotch and get a cheapo half price or spend so much and get something free. Only problem with waiting for ferry to spend dosh is that you have no choice once on board. If you are going from Santander there are shops for duty free just behind the waterfront. Get to the dock early and walk back across the road (same probably applies to Bilbao.
Hope that helps, last time bought 60 dumpy bottles of 'Super Bock' beer for less than 20 Eurines. ;) ;) ;)

York is in Yorkshire, regarded by many as not England. Although that does explain where the Scots picked up the tightness habit from.

Why is it that all football programs have a panel of experts made up of Scots? There's Alan Hansen, Gordon Strachan and Ali McCoist to name a few. If the Scots were any good at the game, surely they'd be in the finals?
Teasy

The answer to that question is very simple, as they are not English they will give an unbiased opinion of how England played. I cannot speak for the rest of my fellow Scots on this forum, but I personally do not hate the entire English population or the England football team. They have some very talented players and a domestic league that is probably one of the best in the world. The only reason I want to see England humped out as early as possible is the totally over the top, self praising, we are going to win it attitude of the English commentary staff. It doesnt matter what game you are watching England are mentioned every five minutes. If a player does something brilliant then he is automatically compared to an English player, if a team are playing some absolutely fantastic football then they are deemed to be almost as good as England. The totally biased bile that is constantly being spewed from the English commentary staff and the impeccable behaviour of English fans in Portugal and in England ( aye, like that will ever happen!) serves only to strengthen my support for any team that come up against England. Ive had my rant now, thanks for reading.
Come On Croatia!

I thought the reason most of the tv commentators on british television for Euro 2004 are scottish is because the english ones are out in sunny Portugal supporting their fellow countrymen, lets face it the scottish commentators would feel like fish out of water in the country of a competition. :D
On behalf of the majority of DECENT english folk, i would like to appologise for the minority of w*nksplat hooligans ruining the fun of so many.

I don't understand that????
Hi Wallace, I've been very busy. Youngest son got married last Monday Only 4 weeks notice) and she isn't pregnant, already has six kids. Only one and a half weeks to go before I go to Thailand, so trying to rake up as much cash as possible.
As for the footie ....... I hear the sound of sour grapes, over there, over there. I hear the sound of sour grapes etc. Sung to distant drums.
Also I like to think of the battles where the Scots, English and Irish stood shoulder to shoulder and beat of all comers to create the greatest Empire the world has ever known. Peeps may be p*ssed off with Immigrants, but the word BRITISH still means a lot to them, even if it doesn't to us. All the Bannockburn, york and other battles against each other is history and belongs in the past. It shouldn't be forgotten, but left behind. Wether Scotland ever becomes a seperate nation is not as important as looking to the future. A country that is steeped in ancient hatreds and grudges, it cannot move forward. I know a lot of you guys are only on this thread for the craic, but it does echo the attitudes of some Scots (and English).
