Trying to get a vmax trike on road. has been in garage all summer, mechanics are going to confirm any day soon I hope that problem is what I think it is. (they've been 'scratching their heads'). C D I unit???. I'm told that there is a possibility of a reconditioned service of said unit but so far unable to locate one. all advice welcome. would be a less expensive way to go.

Go to http://www.vmaxchat.co.uk/ and join up there a good bunch and will be able to point you in the right direction. :thumbu:

Hello, No spark at spark plugs. new spark plugs and new leads. All electrics ok. Everything points to cdi box. I had it started, purring like a kitten but the next time I started. Nothing.
Thanks for your interest, hope you can offer advice. Garage appears 'flummexed'.

ps I've been on to the vmax site, think they are having problems with their links. Or my computer

try the pick up wires before you buy a cdi, they can be broken and work intermittantly, the CDi will probably only break down on one set of coils rather than both at same time

Thanks, I've sent the same to vmax but think there is a problem with their site. links aren't working.

Hello, It has two pickup points and both have been checked.

Check the kill switch hasn't shorted out on the bars, that's a common fault on older Honda's.
I had many a customer buying CDI units only to try to bring them back after they changed the wire on the kill switch and everything went back to being hunky dory.

Barb

could still be kill switch, and still be pick ups, they may well work, but the wires can move and stop it working
