My 1979 GS750 chop project came to me with some unidentified cone air filters on it. Rather than mess with them as I try to get the bike running, I'd rather put on something that is known to work for the GS750. Has anyone used individual filters or a filter/jet kit on a GS successfully? I dont want performance, I just want it to run OK, so if I can get away with just filters that's great. But if I have to do jets as well, then thats what I'll have to do.
Thankyou.

the gs need an up jet from 102.5 to around 112.5
also if you can still find them the ledar air corrector kit#ACK2
helps smooth out the low speed running

If the carbs are slides raise the needles 1 notch to richen midrange, and remove the two float-bowl breather tubes. This cuts down on turbulence in the breathers and lets the fuel flow better.

Is it just the main jets I'll need to replace? Do I need to do anything with the pilot jet?

I've always simply upped the main jet by approx 11% - nothing else particularly needs changing - not on an old gs anyway. My thou had k&ns and a harris works pipe and the 11% rule worked fine. :)
