yep, use them, they are very helpful.
Took Mrs MD's BMW R1100RT to a funeral run last week, I was comfortable throughout the entire 200 miles.
During the actual funeral Run part I had people continually trying to warm their hands up on them everytime we stopped.
The best ones are the OEM stuff built into the grips, but you can get several other types as replacement grips or even wrap around with velcro fastner (from Oxford products)

i list them, they are the all in one item not a wrap around thingy.
they come in black or err black.
7/8" 0r 1" bar fitting
standard or barend type grip
and a off/on switch.
i can honestly say i've never been asked about them and hense never sold a set
so i've no idea how i compare on price with other places.
7/8" £28.95
1" £31.95
that includes 10% off but not shipping.

Hi
left side fitted OK but the right side was a lot harder. Had to remove some of the inside of the grip to slide over the throttle. Worst bit was when I had it hafl way on and it would not go all the way nor come off. Thought I had bust it.
Mine have a on/not on switch, so they are either TOOOO Hot or not hot
Good luck, all said they are well worth having for about £30

I have had the same problem with heated gloves. I used to travel 35 miles to work and was really glad of heated clothing in the winter, but used to have to keep turning the gloves off before they singed my hands!
