Carry a fire extinguisher, you'll need it.

you can't powder coat them as it will smell real bad when hot.
you can have them black chromed or there is a black ceramic finish, i'm afraid i don't no anywhere that does either. but i'm sure a googling will turn up somewhere

Whatever you do, chroming would be the cheapest.
Black choming comes dearer.
But you can get "muffler" wrap wot used to be used on Harleys and olden bikes in days of yore.

for a real tacky look you could try radiator paint :D
my exhaust is covered with muck, oil, tar, sand and road salt...... must get a bucket of water to it one of these days.

How cheap??
Dirt cheap, heat pipes up spray with wd 40,has same effect as seasoning cast iron.Sort of bluey grey grubby finish, chrome next year when lottery won :)
The ceramic coating stuff works a treat.A hot rod co. in the states do loads of colours -not cheap though.Frost auto restoration are good, they stock ceramic coating in silver and black ,google them.
www.holden.co.uk they have exhaust insulating wrap, very drag strip,1"x50' £31.They also do por-20 heat resistant paint which is good upto 1400F.
Some decent car shops stock sperex heat proof paint.Good, needs pipes to be really clean or doesn't adhere.
BBQ paint,Asda £3.99.Nor sure on heat rating but should be fine!
Powder coating can be done. Not sure about heat.Best to ask at www.Triple-S.co.uk he seems to know his onions when it comes to bikes, that's all he does.
Good luck!

i had my exhausts powdercoated by bournes in brum it looked great at first but didn't last very long where the exhaust needs heat shields everywhere else it lasted so if your pipes were the double walled ones it would last a while i decided to have it done as it was only £35 to have them blasted and coated.Waiting to have some s/s ones made but struggling to find someone to do them

i use the spearex paint stuff it works well just get the exhausts sand blasted before spraying it on and it lasts well but you need two coats and its about £8 a tin which should be enough
