i got asked a question by a mate yesterday and i am hoping that you can help........
here it go's......... my mate has brought a front engined trike ( a motorbike conversion) and has been told that to ride it he needs a motorbike licence, which he has'nt got, but he was told that if he had brought a rear engine trike, robin or v.w he could run it from a car licence.....
i can sort of understand the logic, the gears being one issue, but is this right...
thanks

I'm fairly sure you can ride a trike on a bike or a car licence. I was tempted to get one while limited to 33hp and ride it full power on a car licence (ive got both) Could be wrong, but that's my 2p's worth.
My lady rang the DVLA about this, cuz she's only got an auto car licence.
She can ride any trike (not three wheel car) auto or manual, on her licence.
They don't differenciate between car or bike engined.
They've recently got rid of some old defunct catagories, so some older licences may have different cat. letters.

Reliants were front engined anyway and could be driven on a car or bike licence....
