After reading around here and getting some good pointers and tips for riding a trike, decided to post my first question...so please be gentle! lol
There are not too many places to find trikes that I have discovered!
Ebay and preloved being the main ones. Have ordered Trike magazine, but it hasnt arrived yet.
There seems to be lots of Virago 535's out there and Im wondering what these are like with regards to having camping stuff on them and then going up hills....Maybe a silly question, but thats me <dizzy blonde through 'n' through lol>
<sits back and awaits all cheeky comments back lol>
One ebayer thought my Q was totaly silly and didnt understand why I was asking it - so heres hopin its not that silly a Q. lol

Virago 535s are slow as bikes and will be worse as trikes

all depends on what floats your boat,if as you say its your first trike and you want it loaded up with tons of camping gear for rallies etc you cant go far wrong with a reliant based trike, not fast but will get you there and there are plenty of spares about if needed, this is what we did,it was our first trike and we loved it,now we have moved on to a vmax trike, but as i said, its what you fancy and how deep your pockets are, have fun looking and trying them out.:D

also check the log book to see if it says trike and NOT reliant robin
Rule of thumb is, basically, bike trikes have less carrying capacity than car ones. You can get racks etc though so there's no reason a bike trike can't carry as much as bike can and, with a bit of thought, more.

Personally Sidecars more up my street but it wasn't that long ago I was 'learning' - you never stop. From that I'd say that a 500cc engine from a bike can propel you at quite alarming speeds even carrying a shed load more than it was ever intended to lug - like a complete spare 500cc bike stashed in a sidecar which aint light by itself. I know lots of folk like big cc's and high power but for starting out I think you learn more by getting something small and learning to get the most from the smaller motor - I know going up to 1000cc tuned bmw airhead was something I wound up regretting as there was a bit too much poke and it was quite easy to get into accelerating round bend after bend until you find things got scary fast. Too much power and wheelies happen, fun on streight, not so good on a corner:thumbsu:

Know of a complete and legally registered car based trike for sale. Absolutely top level finish and based on a suzuki 1000cc car engine. Needs very little doing to it and painted in a nice deep red colour. Would have it myself if money wasn't so tight. Reckon the guy would sell it for £2500, he builds trikes by the way and this was his own so very high standard to the build.
