I was there camping and climbing for the weekend (all went tits up, well explain in a bit.). I was actually supposed to be goin to the rally (had ticket etc) but my bike was off the road and i'd have felt a bit of a fraud in the car. Anyway, hope everyone kept safe on their bikes as to be honest i glad i wasnt on mine, especially on the Sunday.
Anyway, where my weekend went tits up , well it was like this. I always stay at the same campsite (Gwen Gof Uchaf), great views, right at the foot of Tryfan etc but right in line for any bloody wind. I got there late Fiday night and it was pissin down with rain and Gale force winds with a wind chill of apparently -20. Took me friggin ages to get me tent up even though it was designed for this kind of enviroment (have stayed in worse but got me tent up earlier). Anyway, wake up Saturday morning, tent fill of water and doing its best to suffocate me. Bloody great, turns out 2 of the Ally poles had snapped and 3 ropes had ripped out leaving holes. Werent just me either cause there was another 5 flat tents and very tired lookin people around me.
Bugger it i think. Throw the tent in the bin and decide to get a new one after brekkie at Clogwyn. Get down to Betws after brekkie and buy new tent, drive back to different campsite in Capel i know thats sheltered. Start puttin up new tent and the feckin pole snaps. Well thats it, if anyone had said owt to me i'd have stabbed em with the remaining poles. Right, pack it all back up in a friggin bin bag and take it back to bloody Betws. Give em some **** in the shop and make em put tents up in the bloody shop to prove theyre ok. Eventually, Good News. I got meself another North Face tent so im a happier bunny now. Problem is its just took up so much friggin time its to bloody late to do owt. Oh, i forgot to mention it was better halfs first time campin etc, Bless her :rolleyes:
At least i had a good meal and a good few beers at the Tyn Y Coed to help me sleep on the Saturday night :D
Werent the bloody snow great on the Sunday morn though, pity i had to go bloody home cause it looked great up Y Garn.
