wizzed of down the road to find no front brake.
fluid is up to correct level, no sign of any leakage, break only just works when pulled in fully, no resistance on lever.
any ideas??

How old is the fluid? Might need changing. Old fluid absorbs moisture and then doesn't work.
Could be air in the system, bungee the lever to the handlebar over night. This will allow any air to rise up through the system.

fluid is about 14 months old

Mrs R's bike's got same trouble. MD (who's just sorted her wiring) noticed it, he says it needs bleeding, so I'd reckon yours is the same.
Funnily enough, it was OK when tested by the local MOT station :confused: I think their testing procedure (low speed/almost stationary) isn't very 'real world' but there you go.

if you've had the reservoir or handlebars off. then you may have got air in the system

problem sorted , brakes were stuck at about half way point, hense no resistance on lever, a good spray with break cleaner sorted it :D
