...as to it's value. It's a VN1500 on a G plate, hasn't been started for a year or so. The bodywork/panels/seat/box/mudguards, etc were all took off about 18 months ago, presumably for painting, and have not re-appeared. Turns out the owner has fucked off with another woman and just left the trike behind. My mate stuck a note through the letterbox of the house expressing an interest and leaving his phone mumber. The woman phoned him up and told him he could have it for £7K, at which point he laughed out loud - she then told him to go fuck himself and slammed the phone down. :)
As a rough guide, being what is essentially a non-running project, what is a reasonable price to offer for it?

all depends on the style and quality of the build, if its an IRS back end, or a pro build from trikeshop or someone, then she might not be far off the money (for it put back together in the summer), a lot would depend on if its a simple case of panels back on, fresh petrol and charge battery etc
sounds like a waste of time as she obviously doesnt need to get rid of it, maybe she knows what the bloke paid for it and hence her price?

vn1500 has an 'orrible agricultural 4 speed gearbox! i had one with a sidecar, and every time i rode it, all i could think was, 'nice motor but fucking awful box' it got so bad that i sold it. every change was accompanied by clunking and grinding. never again.

Frame doesn't look a pro job, unless it was a professional pidgeon with the runs.

Based on the trikes we have had in the classified forum recently I would say she is asking about 10 times it's worth as a trike..I wonder if it is actually finished and is registered as a trike..I can't see the petrol tank..
Not trying to be rude about someones pride and joy but you have asked the price, you don't think it is worth it..just walk away, she's not going to sell it cheap and a new law has just been made that any vehicle parked on the road or public land has to be MOT'd taxed and insured, even if it is not moved.
The womans ex partner probably spent a fortune trying to do it up, maybe left it to pay her money he owes her, and told her it would sell for over £7k

Thanks for the replies. I might just try and speak with her, see what the crack is as far as registration is concerned and try and find out the proper story behind her getting left with it. Never know, she might be more approachable to someone who doesn't piss themselves laughing down the phone.
Tony, you dont reckon the back end much then?
Maybe the camera angle but it dont look square from the back, also check to see if it is registered as a trike, if not scrap value only £700 if broken down to bits, maybe less if its been left standing for a while, might not even run.

Can't really see..but that might be a bolt on and she might still have the rest of it somewhere to put it back as a bike.
John.
Sorry I just prefer a bike...

I can tell you it will, by my experience with our trike.
