is there any particular rally or show you used to look forward to,
and try and make it to, that now no longer exists?

like the smock and clogs (in somerset i think, can't even remember the club
that hosted it)

Kent Custom and Crazey Dazes both were good rallys, would like to see them brought back to life, and catch up with some of the faces that used to be there. :D

You can't go back.

Even if the Kent Custom or Crazy Daze started again exactly as they were, you can guarantee that loads of people would grizzle that 'It's not the same, it's not like it was...'

Keith must be in his 50's now - and got angina. Occasionally goes to rallies with us still... and still wants to fight every patch club. He's a tough old bastard and has always been protective of his birds. No surprise when he started on the "club member" who felt his missus up on the dancefloor.
Shame it ended with a glass in his face and the shotguns out.

Never seen the Police walk in and walk back out so fast.

Have met with a few people from this forum who were also there that night.
Changed a lot of folks attitudes that night ( even some ex patch wearers).

But... it's a long time ago eh? Musta been 87 or 88 maybe?
Did both of them and it was a great venue and superb ride up.
Ain't been back to a Scottish Rally since , and it's something I need to change this year.

Almost literally a scene from "Gone with the Wind".

I miss the old kent show, did my 1st 1 when it was at the original site at the halfway cafe, but the other site at new romney was ok, coz my mates brother used to live just down the road bout 1/2 mile away,(his house backed onto the old WW2 radar site) so me and several others used to go down there during the week before and crash at his place before and after the kent show, as it saved us having to head home after the show facing a 4-6hr ride.

though the most memorable point on the romney site was the fact you used to have to cross the drainage ditches by means of a few railway sleepers haistily erected as bridges, the problem was that everyone used to use the ditches as a toilet, and after the 1st day of the show the smell was horrendous, and to cap it off, someone threw a thunderflash into the water of 1 of the ditches next to 1 of these bridges, resulting in everyone within a 20yd radius getting covered in piss stinking water.........phewwwwww

How come i can`t remember being at these rallies but people talk about as though i was there and some even show me photos of the rally with me in them but i still can`t remember being there
Finlake was a good rally, gone now, plus others i can`t remember the names of
but these old rallies we remember from the 80s/90s that are gone are just rose tinted memories, like we keep on about the summers were summers in the 80s, remember the summer of 84? now that was a summer, but the winter was soddin terrible, you wouldn`t have ridden then, i did on a suzi GT250, never got warm all winter, and the left down pipe fell off, and the front mudguard rusted away

The best piss take i get is for trying to put my tent in its bag with the tent rolled up with me pisspot still in it
also packed me tent away with me shades in and bike key, not good on a sunday morn

plus how do you lot manage to keep your rally badges, as i lose em between rally control/tent/bar :(

if ya bent the tab, that helps, some people sew them in, i use bit of supergue on the pin after i have attached the badge, so if the pin comes undone - its unlikely that the badge will fall out, not fallproof but helps

it is funny though you do forget 5 hour journeys in rain, fetid bogs, c*ap food ,for one stupid act by your mates at a rally... that one is remebered forever :) "do you remember when.......

Funny how everybody remembers the ditches and the smell

Remember a geeza staggering up to the ditch and throwing up into it.

His mates then spent most of the night trying to retrieve his false teeth from said mire.

My first Kent Show was No.2 at the Cafe. (1976?) The Old Bill closed the A20 in the early hours so people could race bikes up and down the road.

How times have changed.
