Looking to trike me goldwing as a softtail. Need any info, pics, for swingarm modifications & suspension mods. Will be using a reliant axle.Have built several hardtail trikes in the past but now, disability dictates a softtail. All help accepted & greatly appreciated. hows that going to work then? as far as i see it, using a reliant axle it will need to be able to move independently like in the donor car, otherwise if its just rigidly fixed to the swingarm of the bike, a bump that lifts one rear wheel will lift them both, and the flexing and bending forces transmitted to the frame from such a setup would be pretty severe. all the softtail trikes ive seen done properly had independent suspension with a rigidly mounted diff and drive shafts out to each back wheel, which are mounted on wishbones to allow each wheel to move independently of the other one. just my two pennorth. wouldnt it be simpler if you are used to it to make a rigid and have a well sprung saddle?:D
It seems that would be the easy way out John, making it hardtail. I`l certainly bear it in mind. And thanx for the advice on IRS. Regards,Tink

Why Reliant, the gearing is way out, I'd use an Escort/Cortina/Siera or similar.
Reliants are Ok for getting away fast, If you're looking for to make a cruiser, then stay away from them!

thats a lot of power weight and torque to be putting through a pair of back wheels that are connected to the swingarm though. id go hardtail or irs if it were mine.
