I am building a bmw k100 trike it will have leading link forks and a daihatsui van axle the bike i bought as salvege What iwould like to know is if i put suspension on the back will i need any thing to hold the sliding joint inplace if so what will i need to do this if anybody needs any tips on welding let me know i weld and fabricate for a living no time to help people personly but i may be able to help with advice

as you will probably be using a 4 bar or ladder bar set up to locate your axle the sliding joint will not need support :)

may sound thick but what do u mean by 4bar and ladder bar i have never heard these terms used before

how do you intend to fit the axle so that you have suspension.?

i was planning on building a exstended swing arm out of cds tube like the one in 100% biker that they used on their gt kwack trike

ok
that would be a ladder bar type set up.
and as such the joint will not need support. just ensure that when the axle is at it's maximum distance from the engine that the joint is'nt at full stretch as that could cause probs

thank you for your help dracken1 when i have finished my trike i will post some pics on the web for u all to see this is my first trike so i dont know how good it will be but if it is safe and i like it thats all that matters thank u

Be carefull with the gearing if using van axle. I tried same axle in my 900 Diversion trike, gearing was way to low. engine over revving. Had to change axle.
