finally the 550 ltd is finished and mot booked,but...
heres the thing..when first started it sounds clunky,like metal on metal,but when it warms it quietens down,just worried theres oil starvation somewhere,as the old one didnt do it...
any ideas???:thumbsu::thumbsu:

could it be a camchain rattle-a lot of old kawis have that problem a have a 750 ltd which as just that problem...the tensioner sometimes gets stuck...just a thought.

What rpm is it idling at, hacky? My 750 and my old 550 did it when the tickover was set too low. It's the clutch basket rattling. Set the tickover at around 1400rpm +/- 50 rpm and it should settle down.

gonna check cam chain ajuster(could be a lazy spring),and balance carbs..
tickover at the mo is about 1100rpm so ill bump it a little..
cheers guys..:thumbsu::thumbsu:

they can clatter on tickover cos they have that non adjustable hy-vo chain driving the clutch.

yeah was going to say the same thing

primary drive chain, its got about 1" of play allowable, a slow idle or lumpy idle will make it sound worse

clutch baskets also rattle, try pulling clutch in and out
